Synopsis for “They Lied to You About Menopause”
In the eye-opening presentation “They Lied to You About Menopause,” Dr. Eric Berg challenges the conventional narrative surrounding menopause, particularly the oversimplified belief that reduced estrogen is solely to blame for menopausal symptoms. With a focus on how hormone replacement therapy (HRT) can lead to a host of dangerous side effects—such as increased risk of cancer, clots, and cardiovascular issues—Dr. Berg shifts the conversation toward a more holistic understanding of this natural transition.
He underscores the pivotal role of the hypothalamus in regulating temperature, appetite, and energy levels, explaining how its sensitivity heightens during menopause due to hormonal shifts. The video further explores the complex relationship between estrogen, insulin sensitivity, and vital nutrients like vitamin D.
Offering practical solutions, Dr. Berg advocates for dietary changes to combat insulin resistance, emphasizes the necessity of adequate vitamin D, and suggests natural remedies to alleviate symptoms. The presentation is a must-watch for women experiencing menopause and their partners, providing empowering insights and actionable steps for navigating this life phase.

Menopause is said to be caused by low estrogen, but taking estrogen comes with side effects! Estrogen hormone therapy side effects include:
•Breast cancer
•Endometrial cancer
•Clots
•Increased risk of stroke
•Gallstones
•Fluid retention
•Increased triglycerides
•Increased risk for cardiovascular problems
Not only does hormone therapy cause dangerous side effects, but menopausal women are also put on medications to treat the following menopause symptoms:
•Hot flashes
•Weight gain/visceral fat
•Mood swings
•Joint pain
•Low libido
•Bone loss
•Muscle loss
•High blood pressure
These medications also come with dangerous side effects!
During menopause, estrogen drops significantly, and women stop releasing eggs. This occurs around age 52 for most women. This affects the hypothalamus, which controls the body’s thermostat, body weight, appetite, and energy levels. Other hormones, such as progesterone and testosterone, also decrease.
If you have low vitamin D or insulin resistance, you are more likely to experience hot flashes during menopause.
Estrogen plays a vital role in protecting beta cells and maintaining insulin sensitivity. It controls inflammation and regulates the amount of sugar produced by the liver. Surprisingly, estrogen plays a vital role in the activation of vitamin D and the function of the vitamin D receptor.
The most important way to address menopause symptoms is to fix insulin resistance. Menopausal signs and symptoms can also be addressed with the following:
•Vitamin D3 (20,000 IU daily) taken with magnesium and vitamin K2
•Natural remedies: Soy isoflavones, resveratrol, black cohosh, red clover
•Align your schedule with light and dark, increase morning sun exposure
•Try progesterone creams
•Try melatonin for sleep
If you’ve tried everything, testosterone pellets may be a good option to address your menopause symptoms.

And yet they want to give HRT to CHILDREN. That should be criminalized for those reasons alone.
Dr. Berg, what about hormone pellets? I have been taking them for two and a half years. It has absolutely changed my life. My weight stays maintained, and my skin has become so radiant, no hot flashes. I can go on and on. The pellets have testosterone and estrogen, and I take progesterone. He also has me taking D3- K2. I can't tell you how this changed my life. The downside is that you have to pay for this out of pocket.
The whole medical industry is a BIG LIE 😢😂
Great information. What about the DIM Supplements that is on your website, I am a little surprised that it wasn't mentioned in the video, isn't it suppose to help with pre-menopause and menopause symtoms?
I follow many other doctors and they said that it has been debunked that hrt causes breast cancer.
Doctor, do you know what causes constant burp or gas build up in the stomach? I don't really understand acid reflux but this one happens every day even if I don't eat. I always rub my chest to get it out which works every time but it is really uncomfortable. Sometimes it's stuck below the throat or near the top of the chest. It happens worse when I eat vegetables (like broccoli, coliflower, carrots, potato), but I don't know which one it causes.
I did went to see a doctor numerous times and got specific medications such as acid reflux tablets but none are effective; it keeps coming back. Also, I took an endoscopy and the result came out healthy. However, I still feel the discomfort. I sometimes feel like choking like there's a pressure in the back of my throat.
Love this. Tip: don’t use the term African American please. It’s outdated. People are simply AMERICAN. There is no need to label people by color of skin. I understand in this case you are mentioning the increase in melanin quantity which means darker skin so we should simply say darker skin more melanin. It’s been proven. There are no different races. There’s a human race. There are slight differences in the human race in terms of culture in terms of Certain physiological aspects as skin color eye collar, but we are all human. We need to start addressing on another, simply as people. So as a doctor, you should say more melanin, less melanin, dark skin light skin. We need to be within those boundaries. And not say, Irish American Italian American African-American people are American and all the same race unless we talk about going to an Italian restaurant or something that it’s relevant to mention some ethnicity or cultural aspect otherwise it’s just not important.
My wife's oncologist has her convinced that estrogen is the reason she got breast cancer. She tested negative for the BRCA 1 and 2 gene. Can you explain if this is truly a potential cause? Or is it just more misguided medical misinformation? In fact they put her on a drug to lower her estrogen levels.
I’m nearly 54 (next week!) – postmenopausal, and exhausted. On sage and other natural HRT replacement options. I never went down the official HRT route. I don’t trust the medico-industrial complex.
THANK YOU!! For always rooting for us ladies Doc. Appreciate you 🌹
woww
love this vids.
YESSSS
Hey you, you are amazing
I never had hot flashes or other symptoms. My periods just got less frequent. After 1 year with no periods, my doctor did a blood test to confirm menopause.
You are replacing hot flash for skin cancer 40mins in the sun every day? Yikes!
Wow
Finally thank you it’s so frustrating
Thank you for this clear explanation. I have all of these symptoms as an AA which started around 46. I’m on bioidentical HRT. On top of all of that now I’ve developed a 9mm kidney stone which I’ve never had a history of them before this. Do you think this is also a side effect of low vitamin D3 in combination with low estrogen and progesterone?
I'm 65 – never had any problems with menopause except some hot flashes & would NEVER have taken HRT. I didn't have children and was self-employed with heavy physical work outside.. I don't know if that was a factor…??
I'm am 53 and still having my monthly cycle. Definitely trying to change diet and exercise
Doctor Berg, I LOVE your videos, but this one makes me sad. Yes the remedies are great but BioIdentical Hormone Therapy is not causing cancer and helps so many women. I highly recommend reading the book Estrogen Matters by Dr Avrum Bluming, he’s an Oncologist and his wife had breast cancer. BioIdentical Estrogen is nothing like conventional doctors believe. This comes from a totally flawed Hormone study called the WHI in 2002 in which they used mare urine estrogen in pill form and a synthetic progestin. Dr Bluming explains all this in his book. A recent study showed no increase of breast cancer in women on 17beta Estradiol and Progesterone and a decrease in women on 17beta Estradiol alone. Estradiol is the Hormone that’s protective against the 3 major diseases in women OSTEOPOROSIS, ALZEIMER’S and HEARTATTACK. Also Dr Mary Claire Haver has all the research and her own experience on going thru menopause as a Gynecologist who didn’t believe in HRT at that time.
Unfortunately, my body is comfortable at 13 and a half stone.
I’ve been through menopause, I have Italian skin. I love the sun, but recently have become “allergic” to it. Apparently, it’s autoimmune. Any direction would be appreciated.
Omg! I’m 38 and a NP put me on hormone replacement therapy testosterone for a year and 1/2 and when I stopped it it destroyed my body my lymphatic system my liver my muscles my skin my skelatal
It devastated my life and honestly I started taking tudca to help about 2 weeks ago with the damage on my liver and it’s been a game changer for the first time in a year for my body for a positive. BHRT IS A CROCK
Oh and they put me on thyroid medicine when I didn’t need it.
I’m telling you I got so messed up that I’m so worried about anyone who is on it and then wants to get off. (Reason for stopping was I got addicted to Xanax because of roid raging symptoms) my testosterone was like a 255!!! Your body does not go back to the way it was before. Sorry I’m so so against HRT because of my experience I worry for others. Especially my age group.
My blood work showed I had no testosterone and almost no thyroid function. But she read the blood test wrong and smoking was the reason t was low. I’m telling yall
You need to be careful.
I am though in Peri menopause now FROM the BHRT!
Want to add the NP worked at KU MED FOR 20 years and I fully trusted her. Sucks.
What about bio identical hormones?
How much vitamin K2 should we take with 20,000 Iu of vitamin d3?
No menopause meds for me. My doc didnt like that I rejected adter my hysterectomy
I'm now in my late 50's and never had problems with hot flashes, but I've also been on melatonin for years. The only symptom I ever got was the added weight, but I'm seeing that disappear with the intermittent fasting and from adding more animal protein to my diet. I've also been taking the D3K2 just in the past year, along with increased potassium and magnesium. Great stuff! Thank you, Dr. Berg! God has been so good in answering prayers for my health.
Thank you Dr Berg for sharing this amazing video. May God blessed you and your family!
Your wealth of knowledge is priceless! Thank you so very much!!
I am age 50, 4 months with no cycle, on my way to menopause. My biggest (current) complaint is I don’t sleep well, fall asleep fine, but can’t stay asleep. I am managing my symptoms by laying in the sun several days a week. I live in Phoenix, so it’s easy since the sun shines 99% of the time.
I appreciate this video; however, Dr. Berg, I think you are giving outdated information about HRT. Specifically, estrogen. More recent studies have debunked the theory that estrogen causes breast cancer. I follow and trust Dr. Mary Claire Haver and Tamsen Fadal. Both of which have spent a great deal of time with the women’s health initiative. I know estrogen replacement may not be for everyone, but please reconsider your blanket statement about it causing breast cancer. Estrogen plays a critical role in keeping a woman’s body in check and it’s a hormone we’ve had since puberty so I believe more research is needed to determine how much, and when a woman needs to start HRT. There just aren’t enough tests available to gain this knowledge and that’s sad.
Seems upping K2 significantly would be very helpful in the calcium loss from bones. With everything else.
My mother is nearly 57 years old and still gets her monthly cycles like clockwork, will definitely be sharing this information with her as she is unsure about trying hrt
Hm. I just had my hormones tested and I’m high cortisol/progesterone/serotonin and low on estrogen and testosterone. Feel like absolute garbage
Breast cancer is not caused by estrogen replacement.I always thought you were credible until this statement
Why are you saying females and not women?…
I know many olderwomen without any problem and they are not overweight
Dr. Berg, can you do a video on how people with Chiari Malformation could help themselves naturally without decompression surgery? Please? My symptoms: headache, headaches, Balance issue, lots of noise in my head is not quite ringing, but a buzzing that I can hear and feel, weakness, chronic fatigue, and insomnia, balance problems ( slight) I did keto and I am still doing keto. But years ago when I started keto and I fasted, I did feel a lot better, but I didn’t have any symptoms other than the noise in my head and headaches at that time and it cut my headaches in half and brain fog. I have really bad problems thinking. it actually hurt hurts to think a lot of times. I feel like I’m about 80 years old now. I never thought I would be this bad. I figured I would just suffer from headaches. All my life and I was OK with that but now I can hardly live life.
All my hormones have droped since I have fibroids I have no testosterone.
HRT made me sick, trashed those drugs after a month.
Finally a doctor who is addressing this major issue for women.❤
daily 10.000 IU plus K2
I went through menopause at 53 till 54 and had virtually no symptoms; now it’s 3 years later and I can’t sleep, I gained 25 lbs. and my body is killing me all the time…..I feel like I’ve aged 20 years! Also, I have been eating “keto” style since 2011…..I think my estrogen and progesterone is just so tanked
I don't take anything for my menopause, I just live in hell daily.. Nice when you can afford all the stuff to help it but many don't have the means..
Ladies, Keep in mind when you go get your hormone blood panel.. the labs have a scale that's based on age ..and just because your blood panel comes back in the "normal range" for your age group DOESNT MEAN THAT IT IS CORRECT FOR YOU! Oh trust me on this. You can absolutely have brain fog and some of the horrid symptoms of menopause, even though your blood panel indicates normal range for your Estrogen. Find a smart ob/gyn or a Dr. that understands this. Do small increases of Estrogen, until you feel good.
This also applies to your testosterones level as well!
And keep listening to/following Dr. Berg! HE IS ALWAYS SPOT ON!
My doctor prescribed Hormone Replacement therapy even though I told her I had a bad reaction to birth control pills 30 years earlier (she didn't believe me when I told her I got blood clots from them). After 9 months of HRT, I developed a blood clot that traveled to both my lungs (pulmonary embolism). I didn't realize what was happening to me and I didn't go to the ER until about 3 days later. At this point I had severe infarctions and was in massive pain. It took over 4 months for the pain to be reduced to a bearable level and I still feel a constant level of bearable pain in one lung. It has been 3 years. I consider myself lucky.
This makes me so happy and proud!!! I am 60 and went through menopause over ten years ago. At the age of 50, I started eating a very strict Paleo diet, and found relief. But the carbs were making me gain weight… so I switched to a keto diet.
Long story short, I’ve eliminated 15 prescription medications and have never taken HRT. I have zero menopause symptoms like brain fog, vaginal dryness (feel like I’m 25), no itching, hot flashes or low-libido! I know it’s my diet. No one believes me.
Thanks for this confirmation Dr. Berg.
I'm super surprised that Big Pharma/Big Ag/Big Food hasnt leaned on the trash at Youtube to get your channel shut down.
I spent all my young years tormented by PCOS which robbed me of so much, there's no room to list here. I did finally get some relief and control with fasting and low carb. I went through M in my late 50s. I experienced almost no symptoms at all, except a little bit of night sweats. I am not on any meds at all. Now fasting actually produces lasting weight loss. I feel better than I did at thirty. I cannot help but wonder what I might have accomplished if I had not spend so much of my life so very ill.
