Tommy Richman’s follow-up to his smash single “Million Dollar Baby” is here. The Virginia crooner dropped his new song “Devil Is a Lie” along with the video at midnight Friday (June 14), and it looks like the kid is two for two. He feels the same way because he replied to a now-deleted tweet calling him a one-hit wonder with “2 for 2.”
Funkmaster Flex is a fan of the new song, as well.
The Hot 97 DJ alerted the Tri-State area that he’s playing Richman’s new song and mentioned that he liked it. He said earlier this week the singer’s name “sounds like a shoe store” and that “Million Dollar Baby” was “hot garbage” in a classic Funk Flex rant during his time slot.
The “Devil Is a Lie” video has the same camcorder aesthetic as “Million Dollar Baby,” but this time Richman is all business. He sings “I work too hard, can you f–kin’ pay me” while doing a strip-club walkthrough and flicking it up on a photoshoot with a blue pinstriped 1984 Cadillac Coupe de Ville lowrider courtesy of the Diplomatics Car Club.
Tommy Richman’s single “Million Dollar Baby” debuted at No. 2 on the Hot 100 when it dropped in late April, and is currently sitting at No. 3. The song has been on the chart for six weeks. We’ll have to see if he can recreate that massive success with this single. The video is performing well on YouTube, trending at No. 8 and with around 180K views and counting.
