Top Hezbollah commander in Beirut eliminated by Israel: Officials

In a dramatic escalation of tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, the Israeli military announced on Tuesday that it had killed a top commander with Hezbollah’s missile and rocket unit in Beirut. The strike, which also resulted in the death of nearly 560 people in a massive Israeli bombardment, targeted Ibrahim Kobeisi, who was allegedly responsible for launching attacks towards Israel.

According to military officials, Kobeisi was killed in the strike on Beirut, where he was reportedly accompanied by other key commanders at the time. While the fate of these other commanders remains unknown, the Israeli military did not confirm whether they were killed or wounded in the attack.

The news of Kobeisi’s death comes as the two sides continue to exchange fire, with thousands of people fleeing from southern Lebanon amid fears of an all-out war breaking out. As tensions reach a boiling point, both Israel and Hezbollah have vowed to defend their respective interests with full force.

The situation on the ground remains tense, with the conflict showing no signs of abating. FRANCE 24’s James André provides updates on the developing situation in the region as both sides brace for further escalation in hostilities.
