Trump advises Ukraine to avoid conflict and consider surrendering land

In a controversial statement, former US President Donald Trump has placed blame on Ukraine for Russia’s invasion of its neighbor. After discussions between the US and Russia on finding a resolution to the ongoing conflict, Trump made his comments directed at Ukraine, stating, “You should have never started it, you could have made a deal … I could have made a deal that would have given them almost all of the land.”

The invasion by Russia in February of 2022 came after demands were made that Ukraine never join the NATO alliance. This resulted in a devastating war that has led to a significant number of military and civilian casualties.

Trump’s remarks followed a meeting between senior US and Russian diplomats in Saudi Arabia, marking the first time in many years that such talks have taken place. Interestingly, Ukraine and European nations were notably absent from the discussions. However, the US and Russia agreed to continue negotiations in hopes of resolving the conflict.

President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine emphasized the importance of fairness in efforts to end the war, emphasizing the involvement of European countries, including Turkey.

The situation remains tense as the world watches to see if a resolution can be reached to bring an end to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
