US President-elect Donald Trump has made his first cabinet appointment after his decisive election win. Trump named Susie Turner as his new chief of staff, making her the first-ever female to hold the position. This move comes amidst growing concerns about women’s rights, particularly regarding abortion access, under the new administration.
Turner, a seasoned political strategist with a background in Republican politics, is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the Trump administration. However, her appointment has raised questions about how she will navigate the administration’s stance on women’s rights, particularly given Trump’s promises to roll back reproductive rights.
The appointment of Turner comes at a pivotal moment for women’s rights in the United States. With a conservative majority in the Supreme Court and ongoing efforts to overturn Roe v. Wade, many fear that access to abortion and other reproductive healthcare services could be severely restricted in the coming years.
Despite these concerns, Turner’s appointment has been celebrated as a step towards gender diversity in Trump’s administration. With only a handful of high-ranking female officials in the current administration, Turner’s appointment is seen as a positive development for women in politics.
As the first female chief of staff in US history, Turner faces significant challenges in navigating the complex political landscape of the Trump administration. Her ability to balance the demands of the administration with the concerns of women’s rights advocates will be closely watched in the coming months.

Trump is three steps ahead of everyone.
Circumcision is the choice men don't get to make but women have all the rights in actuality
MAGA!
Objective fact, he is not threatening abortion rights. It's a State issue and is in the hands of the voters.
I wonder why the media isn't relevant anymore.
Americans voted to accept tokenism and avoid politics. They're totally irrelevant.

DW: Trump hurts abortion rights you know?
DW, your Bias is showing. There is no enumerated constitutional Right, nor Federal Law to abortion anywhere in our founding docs. ALL that the Supreme Court did is correct itself (Supreme Court cannot make law, and Roe v Wade invented this right out of whole cloth in the 70's. The Supreme Court fixed it's error.) and reverted this issue to the States to decide due to politicians resting their laurels and not doing their jobs to make this issue a Constitutionally Protected Right or even federal law. If politicians and the people want to actually get together to do something about this on a Federal level, they need to sit down and make it happen – period. Do it Right via the proper process, not improperly legislate from the bench, even if the result is desirable and seemingly right from some points of view.
How to make a Constitutional Amendment to address this IS expressly provided for. 2/3rds of Congress, AND 3/4ths of the states agree. High bar to get or revert.
Federal Law has a lower bar and is easier to reverse but would have a similar effect.
So no 'Rights' were lost. As there is no superseding federal law or Constitutional Amendment to the Bill of Rights, per our system of government this issue falls back on the states themselves to decide in this scenario. This is Civics 101 level stuff, not hard to comprehend. This is akin to the European model for the EU where each member country/state has a different approach to such at the moment rather than a policy EU wide. The Left AND Right ignored this problem for decades, now it's coming back to roost. We have our Parents and Grandparents (and great-grand-parents in some cases) to blame for this mess due to their laziness. Something that needs addressing and will now be a battle to do it right this time to delineate where the boundaries lie /if/ we are even going to do so on a Federal level and not at the State level. Plus side of this, we have decades of research and data to do it right this time to define where/when is appropriate if we choose to do so Federally (or akin to something EU-Wide).
*On a personal note: if we don't leave it to the States to decide, I think the status-quo we had for decades is fine, or perhaps something where the option to abort is limited after the 1st trimester or something to be better defined by those more knowledgeable than I on the matter. I'm quite frankly tired of hearing about it either way. The Republicans generally have bigger fish to fry at the moment with the economy (Inflation and interest rates, grocery prices, jobs, etc), security (border-control, Ukraine, China, ensuring the EU members is meeting their commitments to NATO not skimping on it like some have been – 2% gdp, etc), and self-reliance for energy/manufacturing, as well as breaking up and removing unelected bureaucrats (draining the swamp) passing policies and rules that have impact of Law/corruption without congressional oversight we need to reign in. I don't see abortion being a major policy focus for some time – the aforementioned issues will likely keep us on the Red side busy for a decade to come easily enough given a chance. It isn't worth the political capital to push for change much at the moment with abortion on a Federal level. Arguing over it is a luxury we don't have the time/energy for right now with the more pressing issues I mentioned when we're not staring down the barrel of economic collapse or WWIII (Taiwan and West Taiwan(China) going to war and threatening world semiconductor production is particularly concerning). The states can handle it (abortion) as they see fit per their citizen's desires each as far as I'm concerned.

DW just can't stop slinging the progressive mud – right up there with CNN and MSNBC.
DW found another “actual expert” 😅
why dont women just not have sex
Trump never threatened abortion right..ztop the bs. He passed it onto the individual states..who in turn are having referendums..most of which have given better abortion rights than roe vrs wade offered. So do journalism and research and stop peddling this bs.
This male reporter is USA and Trump hatred, keeps spewing anti-american opinions
DW….you guys are getting obsolete just because you do not give news anymore. No rights have been taken, individual states are in control by their voters.
So, Trump's not running for reelection after this, so you can go ahead and be unbiased (at least on Trump topics) for the next 4 years. Would make me more likely to watch your reporting.
Just saying.
0:55 this dude thinks the past matters.. and it changed much. Woman have a very good life. At least in the usa.
Interesting fact: Trump's first campaign in 2016 was run by Kellyanne Conway who was the first woman to run a presidential campaign and win.
The problem with the US is that it's a meritocracy.
The press caterwauls about "reproductive rights" and yet abortion ends reproduction. The main stream media is so confused by the meaning of words.
