Former TurboTax accountant [insert name if possible] is speaking out after numerous customers were hit with unexpectedly high bills following CRA audits that uncovered discrepancies in the financial credits they received. Many customers are pointing fingers at the tax filing service, claiming that they are to blame for the errors that led to the audits. According to the accountant, if TurboTax is indeed at fault, they should honor their “accuracy guarantee” to ensure that customers are not left to deal with the consequences.
The main issue at hand appears to be how TurboTax calculated eligibility for the Ontario Child Tax Care Credit, also known as the Ontario Access and Relief from Expenses (CARE) tax credit. Customers who relied on the service to accurately assess their eligibility for this credit were shocked to find out that they had received financial benefits they were not entitled to, resulting in hefty bills from the CRA.
The situation has left many taxpayers feeling frustrated and betrayed by the tax filing service that they trusted to handle their finances accurately and efficiently. The former TurboTax accountant is calling for accountability and transparency from the company in order to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
As more information comes to light about this concerning issue, taxpayers are urged to review their tax returns carefully and seek professional advice if they suspect any discrepancies in their financial credits. The CRA audits serve as a reminder of the importance of accuracy and diligence when it comes to filing taxes, as even seemingly minor errors can have significant financial consequences.

Je pensais avoir tout vu, mais cette vidéo m'a prouvé le contraire🍭
A second ago I thought I had it under control, and now I'm laughing until I cry. This video is a masterpiece🍒
The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek!!! From $97,000 dollars to $102,800 dollars that's the minimum range of profit return every month!!!! I think it's not a bad one for me, now I have enough to pay bill's and take care of my family
BAAM! KA-ZAAAM! BZZZIZAAM! Pickering.
I like his hat. Hope they’re made in Canada with Canadian materials
"You don't pay taxes. They TAKE taxes."
Chris Rock
This sort of sounds like user error 😅 they also clearly didn’t read the fine print
No problems pushing TurboTax onto consumers, by the news media and the government. A few years ago, I tried it to calculate my taxes and also doing the calculation on my own. The TurboTax miscalculated the taxes that I would pay by thousands of dollars more than my own work. Never bothered with it, again! What is needed is not some "fix it all" software, but a simplified tax return (without so many loopholes for the wealthy)!
There is no interest on taxes…
Why is a us company running a tax filing company in Canada ?
Use Canadian. There is one from Thompson Reuters
Well, turbo tax will simply say: Users entered wrong values and claims – in short: Garbage IN – Garbage OUT
Why are none of the government funded media outlets not reporting on the CSIS documents naming traitors in the Liberal party? Oh, because our tax dollars are paying them not to.
That's why you go to an account..
Then the 79.95 turbo tax
I am at the beginning of my "investment journey", planning to put 385K into dividend stocks so that I will be making up to 30% annually in dividend returns. any good stock recommendation on great performing stocks will be appreciated>
Feel this report omitted a lot of information
taxes are confiscated by the state. but… i think we all know these ppl getting audited probably put in numbers they thought would increase the return.
Funny the CRA has a different standard for politicians with off shore bank accounts.
I blame the CRA. They could have hired programmers to write code to flag these people's return back in 2021. They only started doing this last year. That's why we're only hearing about this now.
Done blame US software for Canadian Tax 😉
Simple answer. Don't use an American income tax software to do Canadian income taxes. I've used Ufile for the last 10yrs and it's never given me any problems. Why? because it's a Montreal developed software made by Canadians that know the Canadian tax system. Not an American tax software that was slightly modified to sorta work in Canada.
Imagine it was just a bunch of people that don’t know how to do their taxes
Thankful we left Ontario before having kids. Been using Turbo Tax for years.
Why use TurboTax when wealthsimple is way better. They are a tax, investment, mortgage and regular bank all one company.
I've used Canadian company called Studio tax for over 10 years It's simple to use it looks exactly like your tax form , you can use the program wizard to start your way and when it's time to fill the form , you just look at what your form has and it looks exactly like the screen and plug away.
They should have the people input the same info on a different tax program to see if the same answer comes out. If it is then it's garbage in , garbage out.
STOP buying these American companies. They’re paying government lobbyists from getting free tax software.p
Anyone that thought they had to pay $15-20K less tax in 2024 compared to 2023 was extremely mistaken 🥱
I almost filing my tax with off the shelf software.
Thank God I changed my mind.
