Tyla Talks Creating Her Signature Popiano Sound, The Name & More | Billboard Cover #Shorts

In a recent interview with Billboard, South African artist Tyla talks about creating her unique “popiano” sound, a fusion of pop and R&B on piano beats. Tyla explains that prior to this, her music was more traditional pop and R&B, but she wanted to try something different by incorporating piano beats. At the time, there were not many artists in South Africa singing on piano beats, so it was a fresh and innovative sound for the region.

Tyla recalls that creating this sound was a fun experiment that ended up being a perfect fit for her. She describes it as a new sound that was born out of playing around with different elements. While Tyla is hesitant to put a specific name to this sound just yet, she jokingly refers to it as “popiano” because she finds it cute.

Fans of Tyla can look forward to hearing more of her signature “popiano” sound in her upcoming music, as she continues to push boundaries and experiment with new musical styles.
