Looks just like the War Museum down the road from there. I enjoyed the Museum during my trip, but I missed this little bunker.
Thank you for sharing this fascinating location and its history!
I hate that symbolics in red tones, those flags etc. Some communism staf that makes me sick. War is a shame, but not something people can proud of. And she smiles while showing all of this horror, it ridiculous .
Wow such interesting history.
Hey, AK! This was a cool and interesting war bunker visit. Thanks for sharing. 😊
Great history lesson! Thanks AK!
Wow!🤩👍
The Tet Offensive was, as she stated – not necessarily a military victory – but a political victory that swayed the public opinion of US citizens against the war, ending the war. But the battle that truly ended the war occurred in 1954 and is called the battle of Dien Bien Phu. This Vietnamese-won battle drove the US-financed French forces out of Vietnam forever. If you read about how the French thought their position in the valley made them invincible due to the steep and rugged mountain terrain surrounding their base, and the impossible way the Vietnamese, undetected, dismantled and carried, reassembled and attacked the French with artillery from all sides – leading to the French surrender. It truly tells the story of what a peasant class can do against a world power and come out victorious. Also, after MacArthur dropped rumors of using nuclear weapons on the north, they installed 1 million individual nuclear shelters in the population centers. These were basically a concrete silo with a cover lid – large enough to protect a person. No one has beat the Vietnamese people in many hundreds of years of fighting.
Yo, there's a secret bunker in this place AK?!😮 No way, I didn't see that coming!😅 Thanks for sharing that though Action Kid!😌🤗🥹😇
I don't know if she forget or time was limited but she didn't show you the upstairs, I watched this somewhere and they let the guests climbed from the basement and exit under the vanity bathroom upstairs. The thumbnail seemed like you're in a cleaner version of Cu Chi tunnel.
Talking about Cu Chi, the bus they used for that route from Saigon to Cu Chi town was like the worst bus, I felt like that documentary "God Must be Crazy" the bolts and screws were loose so the windows and chairs were vibrating, all the white people on that bus were laughing the whole time, because it was too funny. Once in a while they stopped and picked up big bags of goods from people to deliver from point A to point B, so the bus served as carriers too. From Cu Chi town and bus station to Cu Chi tunnel was like couple more hours so I didn't go, I got out from the Cu Chi bus station and walked around the center of Cu Chi town and got back to the station and back to Saigon. They had a lot of roasted pork vendors from the bus station to Cu CHi town center for some reason.
Trần Văn Lai was a mastermind with all the activities and hidden war bunker. I felt claustrophobic just seeing the bunker, but it was fascinating. This was a sad time in Vietnam's history, especially with the surprise attack during Tết (Lunar New Year). Thank you for sharing this excerpt of the tour, AK.
I remember hearing about the 'extensive' tunnels there, when GI's started coming back home from 'Nam'. AK, I want to thank you for showing THEIR side of an era I never fully understood.. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! 🙏💚
