The head of the US Secret Service, Kimberly Cheatle, has announced her plans to resign in light of security failures leading up to the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. Both Democratic and Republican lawmakers have called for Cheatle’s resignation following the incident at a rally in Pennsylvania on July 13th, where one person was killed and three others, including Trump, were wounded.
During a hearing on Monday, Cheatle faced tough questioning about her agency’s security preparations for the event. Lawmakers were not satisfied with her responses and cited serious concerns about the Secret Service’s ability to protect high-profile individuals like the former president.
Cheatle’s decision to step down comes as a blow to the agency, which is responsible for protecting key political figures and safeguarding national security. The Secret Service plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety of the President and other important individuals, making it imperative that its leadership is held accountable for any lapses in security.
The resignation of Cheatle underscores the need for a thorough review of the Secret Service’s protocols and procedures to prevent similar incidents in the future. The agency must prioritize the safety and security of those under its protection, and any failures in this regard cannot be tolerated.
As the Secret Service begins the process of finding a new director, lawmakers and the public will be watching closely to ensure that the agency takes the necessary steps to strengthen its security measures and prevent any future security breaches.

While I despise Trump, this is the correct course of action for the secret service chief. Now this raises the issue of what should be done with someone in a position of high responsibility who fails to ensure the safety of a senior political figure (let's say a vice president), fails to respond to direct requests for their direct action to prevent a sustained threat to the safety of…….let's say a few hundred members of Congress……..can you guess who I'm saying should stand down?
Only took how long at least they got there eventually! I couldn't believe she actually said the roof was to slanted it was a health and safety issue! WTAF!!! The roof the near Trump with snipers on was MORE slanted ffs! Pathetic excuses and DEI has no place anywhere especially secret service just saying
'Task and Purpose' – New video to be out in less than three days.
Well, if your boss is called Kimberly, you're pretty much buggered from the start.
She's step down but not resign 🙂
Another 'DEI' failure yet again.
Just listening to her responses, she should never have been in the job in the first place.
Utterly useless Woman!
Bidens pick who run the organisation on vibes instead of merit. Lesson there for others.
DEI Hire.
The local police were responsible for securing the area where Crooks was, but she takes the fall. They must be breathing a sigh of relief in Pennsylvania 😂
They set him up! Random people in the crowd saw the shooter 10/15 min before shots and secret service did not? No drone as per usual flown above? No explanations provided.
So, she resigned, but her boss, Mayorkas, won't resign 🤷🏽♂️
The atrocity she allowed to happen pales in comparison to the little grilling she got. She shouldn’t be off the hook just because she was forced to resign. She must be investigated asap.
I thought Trump "coaxed" with her to stage his own assassination 😂😂😂. You truly can't fix stupid 😂🤷🏽♂️
Notice the sex and height of her own security detail …..
In one sense, this is right. But she is taking the fall for the dark forces that planned this.
If they made it standard that any security detail that failed in its duty to protect the president were dishonourably discharged. Then you would get a guard, which was much less corruptable.
In fuedal China, if the feudal Lord was assasinated, all his guards were buried with him and sometimes their families too.
Assuring loyalty is difficult in our soft touch society.
The distorted microphone says everything you need to know about the professionalism of the BBC
The U.S. is looking very weak at the moment. I hope a bad actor or nation doesn't notice and capitalize…
She should resign. She has cost a member of the audience their life and Trump do very nearly lost his. To not have the rood od the building secured was complete negligence.
Resign!? She should’ve been fired immediately. Disgraceful.
Get Clint Eastwood back
Why! she dosen't have to resign! that's not her fault!
This is what I love about the West especially the US, if this was Africa…., no resignation.
This is called a true democracy in the US.
But Trump wont step away for Jan 6? documents? Rape? etc…..??? ok America…
How in "Gods name" was a "midget women" in charge of #thesecretservice, is such a disgrace, she let this happen
