Valdez, Alaska is truly a hidden gem in the Last Frontier, as shown in our latest video on our Alaska road trip series. From stunning glacier views to delicious local cuisine, Valdez offers the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation.
Starting our journey in Anchorage, we made our way to Valdez, passing through the breathtaking Thompson Pass along the way. Our first stop was Worthington Glacier, followed by Blueberry lake and Bridal Veil falls, all offering magnificent sights of nature’s beauty.
The highlight of our trip was the 10-hour kayak tour around the Columbia Glacier. This once-in-a-lifetime experience included a boat ride to and from the glacier, as well as a kayak trip lasting 2-3 hours. We highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Valdez.
After our adventure on the water, we enjoyed a delicious meal at The Potato, a local favorite known for their rosemary garlic fries. Exploring the harbor area, we soaked in the charm of the town before heading back to our cozy Airbnb.
Our final day in Valdez included a stop at The Coffee Co for a caffeine fix, followed by a visit to the Solomon Gulch Hatchery. Witnessing the salmon returning home was a unique experience, with sea lions, birds, and even bears making appearances.
