A Calgary Uber driver recently found himself the target of a racist rant from a passenger, with the disturbing interaction caught on video and shared widely on social media. The video begins with driver Mandeep Sehgal picking up the passenger, who immediately begins questioning Sehgal about his background and immigration status. Sehgal, who was born in India, is taken aback by the passenger’s insistent and judgmental line of questioning.
In the video, Sehgal confronts the passenger about his discriminatory behavior, questioning why he feels the need to know about his immigration status. Despite Sehgal’s attempts to diffuse the situation, the passenger continues to make derogatory comments and swear at him. Eventually, Sehgal decides to pull over and asks the passenger to exit the vehicle, telling him “you can get out here, on your land.”
The incident has sparked outrage online, with many condemning the passenger’s behavior as unacceptable and racist. Speaking to Global News about the encounter, Sehgal expressed his surprise and disappointment at the passenger’s actions, stating that he initially thought the passenger was joking. The video has since been viewed tens of thousands of times, shining a light on the prevalence of racism and discrimination in society.

What’s with all the hate recently. This is Canada, one of the greatest nations in the free world. I love this country. I would like to think that I could be friends with anyone in the country. What happened to our hospitality?? I love seeing people who want to come live here. I do not, however, think that the criminals belong here. That’s where I draw the line. This man is doing a job, working for himself and his family. This boneheaded passenger has to give him a hard time?? What for? I just don’t understand humans sometimes. They’re so illogical.
the filthy and greedy…..
Mandeep, I'm very sorry to see you were faced with that low-life. .
you are obviously a great guy. . and I liked your wit of dropping him off onto 'his land'. .
please continue to be yourself brother. . and have a great day xo
HAhahaha. "Get out here.. on your land.. " Well played, sir.
The passenger is really sick in the head with those comments 0:40 🤬
All the lands are belong to God .
There is no your land or my land .
If Canada truly late criminal charge on that kind of speech this country will be like Venezuela in no time.
Maybe the guy was drunk?
It was never his land to begin with.
"u can get out here, on ur land" hahahah cold
That Uber passenger was a complete tool. Mandeep handled it like a pro.
The guy is on drugs. Forgive the stupidity of ignorance.😢
If as an Indian physician at a Calgayr hospital if a patient came to your ER and did that you should be would be like (after ensuring my own safety):"Sir this is inappropriate and offensive" and try to remain professional and cool and try to refocus on care. Then document the incident in your writing.
Drunk
Mandeep was fired from Uber, LMAO 🫵🤣
Uber is not a good job, not worth it.
Good for you Calgarian, good for you!👵
Thankfully this does not happen much. Actual racism is much lower than the media sells it.
Ugh, lots of comments somewhat agreeing with this lame racist passenger. 🙄 EYE ROLL
the guy was obviously drunk…and dont be such a wimp who is offended by everything if you drive a cab……
That passenger should be blacklisted by UBER! "Removed from the platform only means that one phone number and credit card number.
"His land"? Stolen land!
in the UK racist abuse and harassment are illegal and punishable by the LAW
Rather than being supportive, UBER removed the victim adding insult to injury.
Appaling conduct by UBER
It's not racist if it's true. 😊
As a Canadian, this conversation was definitely inappropriate. I see a hard working man who does not have to endure harassment. At the same time, this issue extends beyond race because as struggling Canadian, I have also experienced this type of behaviour from them. A behaviour of looking down on you, of making fun of you and excluding or seeing less than. On the other side, I have also been a victim of immigrants who treat me harshly, believing I am the other. SO this has got to stop on both sides. Keep your comments and hands to yourself, focus on hard work and be civilized.
Some of the nicest people I’ve met come from Singapore the Philippines, Pakistan India and Afghanistan, my best friend is from Mexico. We enjoy earth bro!
