Wales declares major incident as Storm Bert triggers extensive flooding

A major incident was declared in Wales over the weekend as Storm Bert wreaked havoc across the country, causing widespread flooding and tragic loss of life. Four people are believed to have been killed as a result of the storm, with one body discovered in the River Conwy in north Wales.

The storm brought heavy rainfall, with more than 80 per cent of November’s average monthly rainfall falling in just 48 hours. This extreme weather led to travel disruption and dangerous conditions on the roads, resulting in three reported deaths.

In addition to the tragic fatalities, five adults and five children had to be rescued from a house following a landslide. The devastation caused by Storm Bert serves as a stark reminder of the power of nature and the importance of being prepared for extreme weather events.

Authorities in Wales are working tirelessly to assess the damage and provide support to those affected by the storm. Our thoughts are with the families of those who lost their lives and with all those struggling in the aftermath of this devastating weather event.
