Where is Maduro now and what will happen to him?
In a dramatic escalation of international tensions, the U.S. Attorney General has announced that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife will face criminal charges in an American court. This bombshell news comes on the heels of reports of explosions echoing through the streets of the Venezuelan capital, Caracas, adding an air of uncertainty to Maduro’s already precarious position.
DW News correspondent Benjamin Alvarez Gruber delves into the implications of this announcement, exploring the potential consequences for Maduro’s regime and his own fate. Known for his controversial administration, Maduro has faced increasing criticism both domestically and internationally over allegations of corruption, human rights abuses, and drug trafficking.
As Maduro navigates this fraught landscape, questions loom about his ability to maintain power amidst growing dissent and external pressures. The recent criminal charges from the U.S. signal a significant turn in the ongoing geopolitical tug-of-war surrounding Venezuela. With the United States firmly advocating for change in the Venezuelan leadership, the stage is set for a critical juncture in Maduro’s story.
What does this mean for the future of Venezuela and Maduro himself? As the situation develops, all eyes are on Caracas to see how this latest upheaval will unfold and whether it will lead to a shift in power dynamics within the country. The coming days will be pivotal not only for Maduro but also for the millions of Venezuelans grappling with the effects of a regime that appears increasingly isolated on the world stage.

The US government does not need to go to Congress to capture a wanted leader. Maduro represented a threat to American security and Trump had the guts to get Maduro and place him on trial. Unlike many leaders of this world, especially in Europe, the US has a president who will take action to his people. Europeans love to sit around and talk a big game, but in the end it is just talk. Trump is a man of action and he is helping out the entire world with this action even if the world refuses to see it.
Maybe this bias "news" entity can explain that Maduro was defeated in the last Venezuelan election. María Corina Machado Parisca was elected by the Venezuelan people. She was also the winner of the 2025 Noble Peace Prize. Maduro did not leave office, or respect the will and vote of the Venezuelan people after losing the election. No instead he jailed his opponents and supporters of Machado.
