White House asserts Signal chat leak does not contain classified information

The White House has insisted that the Signal chat leak containing information about recent U.S. military plans to eliminate Houthi rebels in Yemen did not involve any classified information. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt addressed concerns from the media and the public, stating that despite details about weapons and strike timings being mentioned in the chat, there were no locations, sources, methods, or war plans discussed.

President Donald Trump also weighed in on the controversy, emphasizing the success of the assault in Yemen and denying the sharing of classified information. Leavitt referred to the concerns as a “sensationalized story” by the mainstream media and assured reporters that there was no breach of classified information in the chat.

As calls for resignations of top officials grow from Democrats, Trump has announced an investigation into the security incident. Leavitt mentioned that the National Security Council, White House counsel’s office, and Elon Musk’s technical experts are working to determine how the number of ‘The Atlantic’ editor was accidentally added to the chat. The situation continues to unfold as the investigation progresses.
