Why the US is almost always at war? | DW Documentary
Throughout its 250-year existence, the United States has almost always been at war. From its beginnings right through to the present day, the country’s armed forces have shaped both American identity and the political decisions of its leaders.
The United States of America has been at war throughout most of its 250-year existence. From the War of Independence right through to contemporary armed conflicts, the nation’s armed forces have not only shaped American identity but also influenced the political decisions of its leaders.
The documentary takes a deep dive into this complex history and analyzes the “hot” and “cold” wars that have shaped US history in order to draw important lessons for the future.
The film explores how successive generations of US Americans viewed and experienced each conflict. It also examines the enduring impact of these wars on American society and reveals how military engagement was utilized to hone the image and the role of the US on the global stage.
Around 30 high-profile experts, military personnel and politicians examine the military history of the United States, explaining its successes and failures, as well as its impact on the world and the everyday lives of Americans.
The film looks to the past to gain a keener understanding of how today’s military decisions will affect tomorrow’s world — as well as their far-reaching impact on democracy and society. And with US President Donald Trump now in office for a second term, it asks what role the army plays in Trump’s world view.

Unbelievable that USA is not at South African G-20. US will host next?
More women at the Pentagon=less frivolous wars and lawsuits. Conflict Resolution will be key going forward with AI and AGI. Might has been Right. 1980's attitude.
Young people see their resources being put to better use for a trillion dollars a year. Global means Global 🏞️
Revelation 13:11 speaks about America 🇺🇸
That's why America is the only global threat it's not China, China hasn't been at war since WW2,China hasn't attacked or been involved in conflicts against sovereign nations,China hasn't got military bases on every continent China doesn't have troops in nearly every country,by the time the world realises it America that's a global threat it will be too late, for a country that's always about freedom it's always been in a state of conflict
Finally asking the important questions
The real historical answer, from the inception as an independent nation; but more importantly after World Wars 1 & 2 is that the economy of the United States was the only economy that withheld following these 2 major wars.
Because the United States had the only functioning economy after the wars, it quickly became a Super Power and dominated in the build up of its military and influence around the world.
Keep in mind, the United States was fighting World War 2 on both fronts of the hemisphere which gave it power and influence.
So, the Untied States clearly succeeded, where Germany failed, and France too for that matter……hint hint Vietnam.
Then, following the World Wars, the Untied States engaged in philosophical and political wars known as the Cold War…
So! You’re welcome Europe!
I mean, if you’re tired of it, I think I speak for the majority of Americans, we will gladly accept a refund of our Trillions of tax dollars.
Can your economy support a refund?
Keep the money, will you support America and Americans when our enemy within devours us?
The world has been constantly at war since the beginning of man. What are we talking about. DW comes out with the documentary while their news room is berating America for presenting a peace plan in Ukraine.
This is very precise
This doc makes it seem all Americans think the same way. Not really. It's a big country and education offers the possiblity to think for yourself. In reality all countries are just spots of beautiful land and its origin is still a mystery for the most part. Borders and nationality are human agreements or more often disagreements. "Imagine there's no countries …" who wrote that?? The human enterprise is to sink deep into what can be known and what cannot to get a sense of our true place in life. Humility, anyone?
Often wonder what would world look like if we remained neutral in both world wars.
Becoming the world's policemen has repercussions.
Yes. The War on Terror is a complete failure in hindsight. The next war will be no different
With out a war or war footing the US would turn on itself, which it looks possible lately.
—war·mon·ger·ing
/ˈwôrˌmäNGɡ(ə)riNG,ˈwôrˌməNGɡ(ə)riNG/
noun
—–encouragement or advocacy of aggression toward other countries or groups.
"the newspaper was accused of warmongering"
adjective
—–encouraging or advocating aggression toward other countries or groups.
"a nation controlled by a bloodthirsty warmongering madman"
18:46 wrong map: there's no US military base in Georgia (unfortunately). 🇬🇪
"Why the US is almost always at war?"
$$$
Any discussion about the situation in Ukraine is nonsensical without a discussion about NATO expansion.
Could it be that Russia invaded Ukraine because she is surrounded by hostile powers headed by a nation that prides itself on enacting regime change?
Why does Germany never challenge the militancy of the USA? Easy to point the finger when Germany allows Israel carte Blanche to genocide the Palestinians
War feeds the economy! The war complex economy! THE USA DOESNT KNOW another way
"War, is the Health of the State"…
Si vis pacem, para bellum.
The answer's really quite simple, the arms industry employs hundreds of thousands directly, and even more indirectly. This industry needs to be 'fed', that's why there'll never be world peace.
I’m I am no longer watching DW. “A nation always at war ?”If it weren’t for America, Putin would be in Germany / EU already. Thank God America is here the only beacon of hope for the Western world and security. America is not a perfect country, Far from it. But if it weren’t for the United States, the world would be ran by Putin, Xi, and Kim Jong Un. DW should be supporting America, not making these stupid doc about how America is “always at war.”
Two things: money and distractions from home
