A huge discovery has been made in Botswana, as the second-largest diamond ever found has been unearthed at the Karowe mine, which is owned by Canadian company Lucara Diamond. The rough stone weighs an impressive 2,492 carats, making it the biggest find since the famous 3,106-carat Cullinan diamond was discovered in South Africa back in 1905.
The Cullinan diamond was cut into nine separate stones, many of which can be seen adorning the British Crown Jewels. The new Botswana discovery is a significant one, not only for its size but also for the fact that it is the largest diamond ever to be found in this southern African state.
Located about 500 kilometers north of Botswana’s capital, Gaborone, the Karowe mine continues to be a successful site for diamond mining. The government of Botswana expressed excitement over this incredible find, further solidifying the country’s importance in the diamond industry.
This remarkable discovery is a testament to the rich natural resources present in Africa. The diamond industry has long been a key economic driver for many countries on the continent, and this find in Botswana only serves to highlight the potential for even more significant discoveries in the future.

Despite Botswana's political independence, the economic benefits of the diamond find are largely siphoned off by the foreign corporation rather than being equitably shared with the local population. This mirrors neocolonial dynamics where economic dominance replaces political control, reinforcing a form of dependency and inequality reminiscent of colonial exploitation.
Classic example of neocolonism
The God-given property of the people of Botswana … to be profited from by some Canadian company. Tells you all you need to know.
The UK will rush to steal it now and add it to their king's crown. shameless thieves
Stop stealing from Africa 🌍 you blue devilz !!!! Black Power ✊🏾
The fact of the matter is, if all European, Canadian, and U.S owned companies pulled out of Africa tomorrow and removed their infrastructure and equipment, weeds would just grow over what is left because the locals are not motivated to do anything themselves. It has been this way forever. It took Europeans going there, colonizing, and building civilization to get anything done. The only thing the Africans have ever done is sell each other. You can try to dispute such, but you won't win.
That's mine. I dropped it last time i visited Botswana.
Jewish business. Stay away !!
How many souls does it cost? 🤔
The Brits would be drooling over it thinking how they can steal it.

The government of Botswana needs to negotiate a better deal from DeBeers for its diamond production. They only get 25% Botswana's black Africans should be able to keep most of the proceeds from the sales, They are the true owners of this land. They are the indigenous people. For a country that has a high source of resources they should have a higher standard of living (education, etc.). It's due to corruption, of course. HISTORY YOU WONT READ ABOUT IN SCHOOL. In 1957 A British company controlled the petroleum in IRAN. They kept most of the money off the sales. The Prime Minister of Iran nationalized the petroleum industry. The enraged British retaliated with the help of the US and the CiA, they took over the oil fields. They hired thugs to cause riots, civil unrest and kill Iranians. They imprisoned the duly elected president They placed the Shah of Iran in power. He then brutalized his citizens and allowed the UK and US to control the oil industry. This later led to the hatred Iran has for the US and the Iran hostage crises in 79' and for allowing The Shah to escape justice. The people of whatever country own the land and should benefit not some greedy foreign land! That diamond would help feed and get medical aid for Africans. Foreign nations won't provide medicines to treat ebola and monkey pox and famine but they show up to steal the natural resources in Africa.
Africa the richest. !

Does this mean the Prince and Princess of Canada can have their own Crown Jewels now?
In Botswana all mines were state owned or partially owned by the state. Anything unearthed in Botswana was supposed to be for the country/ people. It's shocking that the mine with the biggest diamonds given to a foreign company entirely, Lucara Botswana is 100% private. They only pay taxes from the money they make. It's insane. 🤮
Literally 119 years apart; same shit, different day.
Does anyone from Botswana own anything in Canada I don’t think so
I lost hope when he said Canadian own😪
When lease for the mine expires, government should not renew it. The state should take over the mine.
Living in my favourite village is far better than owning a massive diamond. 🏡🏡🏡🏡🏡
