As Vice President Kamala Harris gears up for the 2024 presidential election race against former President Donald Trump, the politics of gender have taken center stage once again. In a recent video titled “What Harris Learned From Clinton’s 2016 Election Strategy | WSJ”, the Wall Street Journal delves into the differences between Harris’s approach and Hillary Clinton’s campaign tactics from 2016.
In the video, WSJ explores how the political landscape has shifted since Clinton’s loss in 2016 and what it could mean for Harris’s chances in 2024. The chapter breakdown includes a look at the attacks faced by both Clinton and Harris, the impacts of these attacks on the polls, the rhetoric surrounding their campaigns, and what the future may hold for both candidates.
One key difference highlighted in the video is Harris’s strategy in navigating the politics of gender compared to Clinton’s approach. While Clinton faced harsh criticism and sexist attacks throughout her campaign, Harris appears to be taking a different tack in how she addresses gender dynamics in her race against Trump.
The video also touches on how the public perception of female candidates has evolved since 2016, with a focus on the changing attitudes towards women in leadership roles. By examining the shifts in gender politics and campaign strategies, WSJ provides valuable insights into what may lie ahead for Harris as she seeks to make history as the first female president of the United States.
In a time when the news cycle can be overwhelming, WSJ’s news explainers offer a concise breakdown of the day’s biggest stories, helping viewers make sense of the complex political landscape. As the 2024 election approaches, all eyes will be on Harris and Trump as they navigate the intricacies of gender politics in the race for the White House.

Time to turn the page.
TRUMP for Prison 2024 – Shady Vance booted from the Senate 2025 – VOTE BLUE to finally end the nightmare that is Trumpism and MAGA 💙💙💙
The gender of the president does not matter. Their policies, especially the economic ones do.
there is nothing called south asia its just indian subcontinent

To hear Ramaswamy speak about politics and race it pretty rich. What a tool.
Olha o Trump😊
O TRUMP tem muitos fãs na direita patriota brasileira 🎉…….
A kamela é má igual ao ministro Alexandre de morais do Brasil ☹️
The biggest mistake Harris learned from the Clinton 2016 campaign was overextending into states that aren't worth extending into. Clinton 2016 was pouring resources into Texas, Arizona, Georgia, North Carolina while neglecting PA, WI, MI. I think the first mistake Harris made so far was not selecting Josh Shapiro from PA as her VP pick.
The biggest lesson was probably not to build your campaign schedule around polling data. The 'blue wall' that never was… Funny that they both ended up failing to build a wall.
Clinton thought that she had already won…too confidence. Kamala isn't doing that.
One of the most easiest things was simply not being Hillary Clinton. She was a bad candidate out the gate
Kamala learned it pays bigtime to get the questions before the debate.
Kamala Harris tried to keep mouth close, but she can smile instead laugh like crazy, like Hillary…Who trust American women?
She did sleep her way to the top, which shows her initiative and ruthlessness, that's a good quality to have as leaders.
Amazing to see this type of campaigning. WSJ, if this is the best you can broadcast for the Democrat campaign, that being nothing more than a hollow "We have a coloured woman, yay" it shows the intellectual bankruptcy at play.
Mr. Trump has bad experiences with American women!
How much does the wall street journal get paid by democrats?
I don't care about her gender or her race. I'm an Indian myself. But taking a u turn on her policy for election makes me question everything about her. If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for everything.
Hillary campaign still can’t believe they lost to Trump. Maybe she was just a bad candidate?
harris never got ahead in life by learning, she got ahead in life by sleeping with the right guy.
Yes, Wall street Journal. Keep doing the propaganda work for the DNC.
3:02 was it the same with you Vivek?
The Brilliant Brilliant Donald Trump is the Love the Peace the Hope the Truth the Light the Way for America and the World 🤩🥰😍🤩🥰😍🤩🥰😍🤩🥰😍🤩🥰😍🤩🥰😍🤩🥰😍🤩🥰😍🤩🥰😍🤩🥰😍
The laugh does sound crazy
Let's not forget she did NOT get any votes from the people. Her Party installed her as their candidate. Biden won those citizen votes. That is a fact. This was not democracy in action. She is a DEI hire. She did not win any votes.
If Kamala loses this video will age so poorly
The GOP is really grasping at straws to try and get dirt on her but all of it is failing because their claims are just bizarre and wrong
Interesting
Harris has learned not to be a repulsive, repugnant candidate…that's what she learned from HRC. A lesson HRC has yet to learn, and the reason Trump won in 2016.
Well… she is a DEI hire.
Hopefully murika make da same decision
Hopefully she learned not to use it bc Clinton lost PA. She didn’t do enough campaigning there and also she ran a prim and proper campaign. Something you can’t do against Trump and expect to win.
They’ll blame anything but the fact that Hillary was a terrible candidate
harris is bad product with an enormous advertising budget, nothing more.
I'm a registered Independent Voter. When I go inside of the voting both, I'm not considering the sex or color of the choice of candidates. I'm voting for who will be the best leader. In November there is not doubt who is best for our country. With enthusiasm, I will be voting for the Harris/Walz ticket.
WOMEN ARE SO POWERFUL!! Vote for Kamala!! I’m so proud off all the amazing women of our country who fight for freedom
Let's face it Trump is a Loser! Harris has moved to the middle and is going to win. Please.
I think the leading cause was Hilary was a Clinton and Americans don't like nepotism and monarchy
Naw, this misses the point. Many Dems like myself really, really didnt like Hilary. Its not a woman thing, its a Hilary thing.
You didn't answer the question implied by this video's headline.
One of the main things was that while Hillary demonstrated competency but she did not demonstrate resilience against Donald Trump or resilience against the people that doubted her. Kamala has been consistently demonstrating her competence AND her resilience. She basically made a fool of DJT during the debate, exploited his weak-minded narcissistic obsessions and she’s been pulling in support from unlikely people by being persistent in her messaging. Focusing on meeting voters where they are but also being careful not to be a pushover to the media.
Who remembers Biden saying he didn't know who his vice will be but it will be a black woman?
Not a DEI ? yeah right.
Aren't attorney generals and senators elected by the people? Sleeping to get to the top is Lara Trump and Melania Trump. What are their experiences and qualifications?
Trump 2024 ✌️
