I am the definition of an American. 🇺🇸 Say it loud… you know the rest! 😉
Bravo! Although I feel there was some loss of freedom by not exhibiting whatever art you wanted to display. Being labeled "woke" has no place in society; it is a control buzzword. The First Amendment must be defended or it will be lost. We are living in a time of bullying and fear. This will continue until we refuse to bend to this type of supremacy.
She had not seen many African American artists
Hoping her exhibition somehow comes to Chicago … maybe a small excerpt in soon-to-open Obama Library? 🤞
Amazing story, incredible woman, brilliant artist!!!! 🎨🖌️
Here we go with the division and the DEI again. Some of the comments read, "…black americans…". This is the UNITED States of America. We were once UNITED, gang. We are AMERICANS. This is OUR country. That song from 1970 sung by The Brotherhood of Man titled 'United We Stand, Divided We Fall' is 100% true. In wars, black and white defended each other, had each others backs, and died next to each other. You go to war, and life becomes hyper sacred. Skin color doesn't matter. And for those of you who think this nation cannot fall and can't imagine the squallar it would become would do well to imagine the reality of that dystopia. Think about what's at stake…and I mean really think. People are conditioned to think in terms of black and white when there are shades of grey all through life. Ya'll demand perfection and THERE IS NO PERFECTION. But we've all got it as good as it's going to get in this nation. I highly suggest that everyone take a much closer look at the nature of the universe and this world. I see underlying rage behind this woman's work. It's mostly individuals not interacting. Nobody is together. Nobody is unified. It's black people who have chosen to wear mostly GAP clothes to show their American identity. The clothes are American. They are saying, "I am an American, but I am an island in this nation." It's very defensive and a reflection of what's inside this artist. "American Realism"? There's little to nothing that's realistic about this work. "…that idea of America includes everyone."? It's all black people. How is that everyone? The message is ugly. It's more propaganda. And when looking at the quality of the work objectively, it's alright. It's not stellar. And it surely should not be compared to Wyeth, Hopper, or Rockwell. That just exposes the DEI of all of this. She's out of her mind to think her work can even come close to being put up next to those masters. And it's going for millions??? And the statue of liberty thing…she is out of her mind, not in a good way. This story is another joke. I was really hoping that I was going to see some outstanding art in clicking on this story. I find her very disappointing. Next.
Artistic genius. Loved this interview of a “true American”.

She’s truly brilliant!

I love 🎨 🖌️, Great Work
Loved this segment on this wonderful artist ❤
I doubt anyone deserves a heart more than she does.💪
If Trump hates you, you must be exceptionally excellent and powerful. Nothing scares him more than a talented woman, especially a woman of color.💪💪💪Bravo‼️
❤🎉
very interesting on many levels. Amy Sherald is a lot of food for thought.
Such a great interview. So glad to meet Amy Sherald. What a story of intelligence, determination and talent. I think Anderson Cooper did a good job.
I would love to go to her exhibit in Baltimore. I'm glad she pulled out of the Smithsonian with its new Trumpian rules that now make a mockery of artistic freedom in America.
Trans as a statue of LIBERTY! WTF!
Ah, this was an amazing story
Can't wait to see her retrospective in Baltimore!!
