Feid is an 11-time finalist at the 2024 Billboard Latin Music Awards, where he competes in categories including Global 200 Latin artist of the year and Latin rhythm album of the year for Ferxxocalipsis, and boasts five entries with “Perro Negro” with Bad Bunny, including Hot Latin Song of the year.
Coinciding with the awards ceremony, the Colombian artist also known by his alter ego Ferxxo is confirmed for the 2024 Billboard Latin Music Week, where he will sit alongside his manager and Latin Power Player Luis Villamizar, and Live Nation’s Hans Schafer to discuss his touring success from nightclubs to stadiums. In a recent Billboard poll, Feid was also voted the artist fans are most excited to see at Latin Music Week, followed by J Balvin, Belinda and Peso Pluma.
But long before he sold out shows and delivered certified bangers, Feid was behind the scenes writing songs for other artists.
In his early 20s, the artist born Salomón Villada Hoyos “unintentionally” fell into songwriting, after Colombian artist Shako asked Feid if he could record one of the song’s he had written for himself. “I was still new in the industry and didn’t even know writing for other artists was a thing,” he previously told Billboard during his cover story interview.
One of the first notable tracks he helped write was J Balvin’s “Ginza,” but according to his longtime producer Sky Rompiendo, it was on Balvin’s “Sigo Extrañándote” where he really “proved himself as a songwriter.” Feid not only won an ASCAP Latin award and signed an exclusive worldwide publishing administration deal with Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG), but he became an in-demand songwriter, penning songs for acts such as Nicky Jam, Thalía, and Ximena Sariñana.
However, despite his distinct craft of making reggaetón music with pop lyrics, Feid felt he “needed to find myself as an artist” and is now focused on his music career as a recording artist. Notwithstanding, many of his songwriting hits have become timeless bops.
