Houthi rebels fire ballistic missile towards Israel

Houthi rebels launched a ballistic missile at Israel early Friday morning, prompting the Israeli army to intercept the missile. The missile was fired from Yemen, causing sirens to sound and explosions to be heard in central Israel.

According to a statement released by the Israeli army, the missile was intercepted by an ‘Arrow’ interceptor outside of Israeli territory. Despite the incident, there have been no changes to the IDF Defensive guidelines at this time.

This is not the first time that Yemen’s Houthi militants have targeted Israel with missiles and drones. The attacks are said to be in solidarity with the Palestinians, particularly since the Gaza war began with an attack on Israel by Hamas on October 7. In July, the Houthis launched a drone at Tel Aviv, resulting in casualties.

In response to previous attacks, Israel has conducted airstrikes on Houthi military targets near the port of Hodeidah. These airstrikes have resulted in casualties and injuries on the Houthi side.

This latest attack highlights the ongoing tensions in the region and the complex dynamics at play. The situation is fluid and could escalate further if not managed carefully by all parties involved.
