The shocking video of a security guard allegedly assaulting a customer at a Dollarama in Toronto has sparked outrage and led to criminal charges. The incident, captured on camera by a witness, shows the security guard forcibly restraining and hitting the customer in what appears to be an unjustified use of force.
Witness Ricky Gamez, who recorded the incident on his phone, described the customer simply trying to enter the store to buy paper towels after spilling coffee in his bag. However, the security guard’s refusal to let him in quickly escalated into a violent confrontation, resulting in the customer being physically assaulted.
In response to the incident, Dollarama emphasized that they do not condone the use of force in any situation and strive to maintain a store environment where all individuals are treated with respect. The retail chain expressed their commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of their customers and staff.
The charges against the security guard serve as a reminder of the importance of proper training and protocols for security personnel in handling difficult situations. This incident highlights the need for accountability and oversight in ensuring the safety and security of all individuals in public spaces.
As the case moves forward, it is crucial for the justice system to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure that appropriate actions are taken to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. The video serves as a stark reminder of the impact of unchecked use of force and the importance of upholding the values of respect and dignity in all interactions.

I don't know the whole situation but I'll still think Justin thank you Justin
"not authorize the use of force in any situation" – what is the point of having a guard?! Is it Narnia or La-la Land?
My elderly father was assaulted by a dollarama employee on March road in kanata and the guy still works there. All my father did was inquire why cashier was unhappy lol. Dollarama don’t give a crap it’s clearly obvious.
Spitting on him is "getting defensive" Global? Are you serious?
For all the comments on coming down on the guard and those in the video, let me know how it goes for you when you get spat on
The guard's reaction was DISPROPORTIONATE to what the customer did….and it looks like the customer may have mental health issues.
Is this one of our new immigrant employees?
Spitting on someone is saying is very bad that customer should be charged actually. I think security guard could have handled the situation better
WTH? This guy might be able to do that in his country but come on, you can’t do that here. That’s disgusting!
hmm, story seems a little fishy. seemed to really magic trick the fact he got spit on. You spit on someone? You're getting dealt with like someone who spits on people. bye
Excessive force? Big maybe, but everyone who said the security guard is wrong, really needs to see what’s happening in US today…. In cities like Portland, San Francisco, NY, store robbery is Rampant, like every… single…store… It’s Anarchy, yes because the guards didn’t bother stop shoplifters… We need tougher punishment against shoplifters, or it’s same anarchy in Canada…
Why didn't we need security guards before divers;ty?
Someone spits on you that is assault. All bets are off at that point. Spit on me given sputum can carry hepatitis you will get more than a slap.
Specifically, this location is the most unsafe location in the GTA. I’ve hesitated walking into this location and have witnessed altercations.
You spit on anyone your asking for trouble nuff said!
I'm just going to come right out and say it. I think Canada is disgusting now. It's like living in a Third World country.

People can be refused service
Sue for millions
I hope I'm on that jury. Spitting on someone? NOT GUILTY.
Yes keep promoting theft
The security guard was bought from Dollarama!
Why are so many people defending the security guard? He put his hands on him first with no justification? And that was waaaay over board what he was doing to him. 🤮
Dumb
The fella didn’t listen to security. What’s the point of having security. Security guards don’t go to work to fight, they go to take charge of their post. If someone interferes with his authority and freaks out what he’s asking, he should have the right to take him down. A 17 second tape of this worst part of what happened, inset enough to arrest this man. When I was in law I would have felt silly arresting this man, because I’ve delt with these freak out artist before.
Law abiding citizens ❌

This country is trash. Spitting on someone is nasty. You can spread herpes aids and hep c
Dollarama stalks all native people in their stores in larger cities like Calgary and Toronto.
I spose in Toronto it must be most other ethnic backgrounds, either way, don't be touching people.
