In a move to prevent further disruptions to Canada’s vital port operations, Labour Minister Steve MacKinnon has intervened to put an end to the ongoing work stoppages at the major ports in British Columbia and Montreal. This decision comes after weeks of labor disputes that have caused significant delays and disruptions to the flow of goods through these critical ports.
The Labour Minister has implemented binding arbitration as a means to resolve the issues between the unions and management at the ports. This process will ensure that both parties come to a fair and equitable agreement, allowing for the resumption of normal operations without any further disruptions.
The work stoppages at these ports have had far-reaching consequences, impacting not only the local economies but also the national economy as a whole. The timely intervention by the Labour Minister is seen as a necessary step to prevent any further damage and ensure that the ports can continue to operate efficiently and effectively.
It is hoped that the implementation of binding arbitration will lead to a swift resolution of the labor disputes at the ports, allowing for the resumption of normal operations and the continued flow of goods through these key gateways. The decision by the Labour Minister highlights the government’s commitment to maintaining the smooth functioning of Canada’s ports and ensuring the stability of the country’s supply chain.

We officially live in a dictatorship. When people pay for a union and the government gets in the way we no longer have democracy
Who’s gonna pay taxes when every single persons job in Canada is replaced by a robot … no more lavish vacations for Trudy no more handouts to Ukraine … 🤷🏻♂️ people need jobs
Canada no longer has a RIGHT TO STRIKE
Keep on using your power tp make people do against their will? This wont go well
What's sellout going to do now for these union employees? Oh, I know he'll TEAR UP THE AGREEMENT,,,,AGAIN ! What a GREAT union rep he is !
Long life of the Great October Socialist Revolution of November 7th, 1917!
Congrats to all my comrades and those who was born in the USSR!
So the liberals raise taxes on the middle class. Then take away their right to collectively bargain are living wage.
CPKC/CN tried to strike and were forced to arbitration 6 months ago. To this day a date for arbitration has NOT yet been set ! Most are using food banks now and are one Christmas away from foreclosure on their homes!
Thanks Justin
These port work will never see arbitration. Just smoke a one mirrors
Again the feds imposing their will over peoples rights!
Corporations rule our country. All power to the workers.
CLOWN WORLD…… WAIT TILL THIS HAPPENS IN THE NEW YEAR IN THE US…. All by design more problems to come this is just the tip of the ice berg….. keep people not automation!!!!!
NDP where you at?
This will not get any better under PP, probably worse since the Conservatives have nothing but contempt for labour unions.
Elections now !
People who work in the supply chain deserve more. If they are nessisary for the economic prosperity of the country shouldn't their paycheck reflect that?
BREAKING: Leaked documents from a Chinese Communist Party front organization operating in Canada reveal a plot to get 41 pro-China candidates elected to Parliament during the 2019 election. The document boasts a 20% SUCCESS RATE, indicating eight candidates were elected as MPs.😐😐
Oh boy! Heavy handed government intervention again! This one going to get the Emergency Act if it doesn't go your way too? At least you're willing to talk to these people this time. Baby steps, right?
Im ah! Im ah! Im ah! Most intelligent liberal!
Canadian companies don't want to bargain with unions anymore. They don't even want to cover inflation rates anymore. They want people to work for peanuts. Time to think of leaving this country for something better.
pay all government employees MINIMUM WAGE
This is all part of the Master Plan for Canada's budget to balance itself
Unions only produce whiners and dog breeders…
That said, this is authoritarian conduct when our socialist government removes their only bargaining power.
Ignore this corrupt gov and keep striking. If the goc is unhappy about economic damage then they should force the docks to agree to the terms or force a happy medium.
This incompetent labor minister sits in his chair to order people to work do things instead of going out and face and physically touch the problems just like the Greeks and Romans they went out to fight wars for democracy. Or he will bring out the army
But it was ok for Trudeau and the LNDP coalition to shut Canada down because of covid. Many businesses shot down and jobs lost and there was no toilet paper to be had.
Gee. Trying to remember where else I have heard of this Liberal/NDP band-aide solution to labour disputes.
Within the year, we will be going to the polls. Remember this when you make your selection for the next 4 years.
More dictatorship by the Liberals who take away the rights of workers and Canadians to strike, as per their collective agreements.
great video! I appreciate the insight on the port shutdowns in BC and Montreal. However, I have to say that while binding arbitration might seem like a fair solution, I worry it could take away some power from the workers in the long run. What do you all think?
Always interfering for big business! Say good bye to the votes you have left
This government sucks.
Binding arbitration is a good call.
What’s the wage and working condition right now? What’s the reason for the strike?
The liberal party,
-The promoter of low wages
-The promoter of high cost of living
That’s a relief. Now people will be able to get all the junk they always buy for Christmas.
I laughed when he said Canadians have little tolerance for economic self harm. We have a prime minister that is doing more harm to the economy than any strike could ever do. The cap on emissions from the oil and gas industry will keep people from other countries from investing billions and Canadians won’t invest either. The investment money will all go to the US once Trump does away with the restrictions Biden placed on the industry in that country. With close to a year left in office I wonder how much more economic harm Trudeau will do.
If he’s SO CONCERNED about Canadian’s economic state WHY is HE SUPPORTING HIS BOSS?????
COMMIE
What is the use of a labor union if the government always end up doing this? We are going to feel the impact, but we need to support our union brothers and sisters.
