A recent study rigorously evaluated U.S. airlines to determine which carrier deserves the title of the most reliable, delivering findings that may come as a surprise to many travelers.

Avelo Airlines, a budget carrier established in 2021, has been recognized as the most reliable airline in the United States for 2025, according to a recent study by aviation data firm Anuvu. The evaluation considered two primary metrics: on-time performance and flight cancellation rates. Avelo led both categories, achieving an on-time arrival rate of 83.9% and a cancellation rate of 0.48%.

Despite its relatively small size, Avelo is expanding its operations, offering regional flights along both U.S. coasts, select inland cities such as Dallas and Salt Lake City, and international destinations including Cancún, Mexico; Montego Bay, Jamaica; and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

Following Avelo, Delta Air Lines secured the second position in on-time performance with an 81.9% arrival rate, while Southwest Airlines ranked second in flight cancellations with a rate of 0.82%.
