In their latest video titled “How Far Can Our Electric Boat Really Go?” Jason and Nikki Wynn put their electric boat motor to the test in real-life cruiser conditions. The couple takes to the water to see just how far their electric setup can handle while engaging in their usual activities of coastal exploration, snorkeling, and a bit of trouble.
The video showcases the couple’s candid experiences, including unexpected challenges like getting something stuck in the intake and a man overboard drill at 17 knots. They share their thoughts on “range anxiety,” discuss efficiency at different speeds, and provide data on their electric boat’s performance.
Jason and Nikki Wynn are known for their adventurous spirit and curiosity, which has led them to explore the world on wheels and keels since 2011. Their mission is to #CultivateCuriosity by embracing off-grid living, connecting with strangers, and exploring alternative lifestyles.
Viewers can expect an entertaining and educational video that offers insight into electric boating, gear for small tenders, and the practicality of using electric boats for cruising. Whether you’re a seasoned sailor or simply curious about sustainable boating, this video provides valuable information and entertaining moments that showcase the Wynns’ adventurous lifestyle.

You guys hit the electric propulsion producers at a show recently. Any ideas on the new options?
Go to a wet market in the city and ask around for the guys that deliver block ice. They use a stainless hook to drag the ice around . You can ask if they can sell it to you so you can use it to unclog your jet intake !
A shade top would be cool!!!!
snorkeling was cool…. Reefs at St. John USVI still are decimated by the last hurricane.
I would have liked for the battery system to be standard sized 12 volt lithium ion sized batteries so you could replace them easily.
Baby crocodiles being seen on your dives?! Doesn’t that suggest possible presence of adult crocodiles?! Be careful, we love you! ❤
Let's start with that is a very cool tender whether electric or petrol. A person does electric because they feel it helps the environment. There may be little things like "I never have to go to a fuel dock" which you would never go to a fuel dock with a tender but you would be required to carry a few gallons of petrol on your yacht. Maybe you really like the quietness of electric. That is probably my favorite. As a comparison, and it isn't a great one, there is the Mokai jet drive kayaks that use a 9.5hp Subaru engine. I know, kayak much smaller but they do 20 knots and 60 miles on 4 gallons. Weight/volume of the drive stuff is roughly the same. Eventually the salt water will make your electric drive unreliable and maybe that risk is exactly the same for a petrol system. Salt water always wins. I'm not anti-electric, built my own electric bicycle and I love it. There is a place for electric given the current state of the technology. Not convinced the marine environment is the place yet.
Looks like a couple of deck mounted, soft, handholds are in your future.
Jason, I admire your romantic side. Your love of electric and your longing for a better, more economical solution to gasoline and diesel. The fact is, we're not there…..yet. We may never be. A couple of gallons of gas and a good old reliable 4 stroke is much more viable solution to what I would like in a dingy. Hopefully you 2 beauties are back on the water soon. Keep the smiles and positivity coming.
Love your stuff! I have to disagree with the comment about temperature and motors. If they are operating at rated output and rated ambient, they should run continuously without overheating. Granted, your motor is a specialty motor. But rated kW(Hp) and ambient water temp SHOULD BE IN THE MANUAL.😉 The batteries however, are temperature limited for charging and discharging.
Hmmmm. I am subscribed and have all notifications set, but GwtW videos have not been showing up. 🙁 RIP Singa.
When will they fix your engines? Or will you remove the hybrid and go back straight diesel?
Now that’s a real man overboard test!!!
Great video, great fun I'm here for Niki and the great outfits she wears Niki is hot See more Niki
Omg so beautiful! You even found Nemo and his dad lol.
It would be worth a few hundred dollars to carry a third battery. Just in case.
In the beginning of the clip, you state that electric propulsion have limited range. Isn't that true also foe fossil propulsion?
A Jet means 1. you can’t turn unless under power, and 2 you occasionally have that issue with sucking up debris. How does it matchup with a prop as far as efficiency. Traditionally a jet was less efficient, I’m wondering if that’s changed? You said it tested better??
Hoping HH management team will step up and make things right on your boat!! From what I’ve seen they are failing miserably!!! It reminds me of Lagoon and their bulkhead issues!! Hey
HH the world is watching!!!
I would go a step further with some form of food and water. I did get stranded overnight once and all I had was an apple, banana, and Coke along, but was glad I had them. I suppose that with the ores, you could paddle back as far as your battery would take you if you were not injured.
