The trade war between the United States and China appears to have hit a standstill after a turbulent week that saw both countries increasing tariffs on each other’s goods. The escalating tensions have had a significant impact on global trade, causing uncertainty and volatility in markets worldwide.
US President Donald Trump has expressed willingness to negotiate a deal with China, hinting at a possible resolution to the trade dispute. Meanwhile, the European Union Commission has also expressed openness to discussions with the US, while emphasizing the need for internal market reform.
The potential easing of tensions between the US and China offers a glimmer of hope for businesses and economies affected by the trade war. As both sides show willingness to engage in dialogue, there is a possibility for a much-needed de-escalation in the ongoing conflict.

Con man hiding his raised taxes on his own people, using world leaders as his shill.
This is a bogus tariff made by someone convicted for falsified company books.
Ask Canada and Mexico about status of his 1st deal with them..
Congratulations, you played yourself
So many strange headlines lately, what’s going on?
still dreaming europe. US is not dealing with u, its self shoring all world companies into US and the world to buy from US
Leave semi conductors!! American labour cannot make a MAGA hat profitably.
For those who haven't yet heard: Trump just capitulated. The US has exempted smartphones, semiconductors, computers, machinery, and various electronics from his ridiculous tariffs.
Major humiliation for the Trump administration.
Did he spoke Italian??
This is what happens when someone who never quite understood the strategy of checkers decides to try playing 3D chess with players who are masters at the game.
I remember reading a report on the cost breakdown for a $499 iPhone7. The Chinese only made $7. Apple is the one benefiting the most of outsourcing labors. Tariffs will either make iPhones more expensive or if Apple wants to maintain old iphone prices, they have to pay the workers in the US wages like the Chinese
This is the moment when China can take over Taiwan and the USA would have to let it go or everything in USA will stop function in 2 months without spare parts.
Only India can teach a lesson to USA for imposing crazy tariffs. Trump knows he can’t play his tariffs game with India
Early last year Canada levied a 100% tariff on Chinese EV batteries in support of our auto sector, much of which is American owned. China retaliated with tariffs on canola and other agricultural products from Canada.
So we honoured our trade agreements with the U.S., but in 2025 Trump threatens us with “economic destruction” as part of “annexation” of our sovereign country. And that seemed to be acceptable to Americans.
Most of Trump’s tariffs against Canada are NOT part of the 90 day pause, and thousands have already lost their jobs.
Only good news will be Canada’s economic and foreign policy diversification, more self reliance in agriculture, and again having a navy suitable for our 3 coastlines.
80 years of U.S. efforts around the world went BOOM through Trump’s disrespect, and the failure of Americans to call him on it. The U.S. has no right to unilaterally upend the world’s economic and foreign policies. The world won’t forget, and few will forgive the arrogance and willful ignorance.
It's unwise for China to start negotiating within the next 6 months for several reasons:
1. The pain induced by stopping importing Chinese goods is not felt by American customers yet, it will take time, America is now like a hungry man standing at the door of a restaurant negotiating the price;
2. America still has stockpile of rare earth/metals, it will soon needs to prioritize which sector can use, how much they can use, in one year, that issue will get worse day by day and start holding their hi-tech R/D and manufacturing;
3. America will decouple with China anyway, a "nicer" phone call or a different administration would not change that;
4. China is becoming stronger and needs to establish its brand name internationally, the chaos and instability the world is now experiencing will only make that process faster;
5. Considering Taiwan issue, it's better for China to cut reliance on US as much as possible;
6. The news of Chinese EUV machine will come out within 3 months, think about the world's response to that…the last choking point for China is gone…
7. Geopolitically, the world comes into a transition period, if China wants to be a real superpower, it has to win in such favorable environment.
8. Chinese family usually has savings for one year or more, they can survive quite long period, or at least can beat the American family…
9. The potential unrest within US will give its government pressure…
10.
I'll write "Why US should not negotiate with China at all?" later, also 10 reasons…
This U.S. citizen just can't believe the comments made by these "think tank" guests. They act like Trump had no idea that his tariffs would make the markets drop and anger international leaders. He doesn't care. He thinks we've been ripped off and means business. He's said for years that to fix that, there will be an adjustment period and some pain involved. He was doing great in his first term until covid hit, oh yeah, which originated where?
Let the tariffs hit the shelves. Force the hands of corporations and business owners in the US to cave to build in the US. Quit giving terms and on and off decisions. Let the cards fall and let the recession happen. We need a reset to put Americans first and bend the will of corporations to stop buying from Asia. Keep the wealth here. Employ Americans and let the prices be dictated by the consumer.
With all that inside trading. Everything these "think tanks" say seems pointless. Peoples pension all over europe are losing their money.
Popcorn time 🍿
No one listens to germans, you have no credibility !
Trump give China all the cards.
What's next after Tariffs?
👉Sanctions baby!
The numbers games by Trump has become a joke to the world, it's so high that it no longer practical to economy significance ..
China said it would ignore the next .😅
EU has no back bone.. just blah blah blah . No actions taken. Ughhhhh
I fear Trump will soon be admitted to a closed institution.
The dwarfs of Europe just got saved by china tough stance on tarrifs on usa …. But once china n usa reach an agreement….Trump will come hard on the dwarfs of Europe the likes of Ursula Vander layen….
CCP economy is in shambles with CCP factories closing down at an unprecedented scale. CCP will be on their knees begging for Trump to retract all tariffs imposed on CCP next week
LONG LIVE CHINA 🇨🇳 ❤
Winner of this TW is a true democracy. Trump made authotarians look like as dangerous as they can be. Their action can destroy lives far away, everyone on this planet can be the victim.
Build Europe build.
i dont think trump knows what a deal is.
we can give him the nobel prize for best haircut ever. this way he will be calmer.
Phones, computers and other electronic stuff is now exempt from the tariff (US announced late on Friday) after Apple and probably others complained that prices in the US would go up too much. Surprise, surprise!
Someone blinked again today to exempt tariff of phones and computer related products
As Europeans, we need to wake up and build our own army, own service networks. They shouldn’t be bought by the US when they are still infant networks
