My family and the Nazis – Remembrance after 80 years | DW Documentary
A 17-year-old Polish forced laborer was executed by the Nazis in 1942. It was Stefan Weger’s great-grandmother who testified against him.
After many decades, German photographer Stefan Weger began to question his family’s long silence. His photo project “Luise” grapples with guilt, denial, and responsibility.
Daniel Sieczkowski from Poland meanwhile, is also searching for answers: His grandmother was deported to Nazi Germany as a young woman. She and many other Poles were sold off like cattle, regarded by the Nazis as “racially inferior”. They were the second largest group of civilian forced laborers after Soviet citizens – and are estimated to have numbered up to three million.
Two people from the same generation with two very different perspectives. A generation that is asking hard questions: “What did our ancestors do? And what does that mean for us today?” A search for answers amid denial and repression – and the future of remembrance.

The houthis have said no more genocides, and they are blocking the straight and they are harassing ships as a result of Israel genociding gazans. At the end, it says we need to make sure this never happens again, but Germany is literally doing nothing while Israel is committing genocide.
Thank you DW.
Appreciate very much 👍
Truth to remember and avoid.

Show this video to the 🤡 supporters. They also have the same agenda.
It still happens in Xinjiang. The world learned nothing.
Thank you for giving history a human face
My great grandfather died in Stalag, it was like a work camp where people were starved to death. His last photo from there a few months before his death shows a living dead. Cattle and animals in the farms were treated better than those poor prisoners, it truly shocks me
Never Again, FREE Palestine!
For Germany, "never again is maybe later". Deutsche Welle feigns condemnation of the very crimes for which it has been manufacturing consent for the past 18 months.
Based old family l'amour toujours Gigi D'Agostino
Most shameless propaganda channel ever
No comments because losers don't write the history.
Forced labor is still part of the prison system in the USA and recruitment fees are common enough if you recruit through an agency.
Capital punishment for arson sounds like an injustice though, particularly for a teenager.
So he’s mad at his grandma because she told the truth about a barn fire, I understand the kid shouldn’t have been executed but man bun dude acting like his grandma did some atrocity. She was a witness to an event, he wanted her to lie to what he says is a brutal regime?
And in a few years many will have to accept their parents were MAGA
Leaste we forget 🙏🔥😢
In todays day and age, you cannot admit your family was part of the nazi party. People will label you as a monster even when you don't agree with your grand parents views.
So you best hide your grand parents past and paint a Glanzbild of the past. Truth is not tolerated. Disney truth is the only truth that is tolerated today.
I myself hate nazism. I also hate not telling the truth. Children of nazis should not be bullied because of the choices of their grandparents.
Imagine if he only knew the truth about his ancestors instead of this propaganda.
In the future there will be no zionist, they will all deny what they have done to the palestinians😮
I thought you would interview Schol, Barbock, Merz or Von der Layen.😂😂😂
