Trump and Putin’s Alaska Summit: A Glimpse into Future Moves on Ukraine
In a televised interview following a pivotal summit in Alaska, U.S. President Donald Trump discussed his discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin, providing insights into their negotiations regarding the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. The meeting, held on August 15, was highly anticipated, and although it did not yield a definitive resolution to the war, both leaders characterized the dialogue as constructive.
Trump emphasized that several significant points were agreed upon, albeit not an extensive list. He remarked, "There’s, you know, one or two pretty significant items. But I think they can be reached now," indicating a belief in progress on critical issues. He suggested that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and European nations need to play a more active role in advancing the peace process, underscoring the collaborative effort required to address the conflict.
When asked about his personal interactions with Putin during the summit, Trump confirmed they had a private conversation that conveyed sincerity. “He made a very good speech, and I also finished it up. And afterwards we spoke," Trump recounted, hinting at a willingness from both sides to explore solutions moving forward.
Despite the optimistic tone, Trump acknowledged the complexities of the situation, particularly regarding Russian oil imports and potential tariffs on countries engaging with Moscow. While he noted that retaliatory measures were not immediately necessary, he left the door open for future considerations, dependent on developments from the summit.
While the Alaska meeting fell short of a game-changing agreement on the war, both leaders’ commitment to dialogue signals a fragile yet crucial step towards exploring a resolution. As the international community watches closely, the onus now rests on Ukraine and its allies to capitalize on this momentum.
The summit encapsulated the delicate interplay of diplomacy, where hopes for peace must contend with persistent geopolitical tensions. As updates emerge from the discussions in Alaska, the world awaits to see whether Trump’s assertions can materialize into actionable strategies to end the conflict in Ukraine.

So in other words, Putin gets exactly what he wants from the country he invaded.
Would we agree if it were us who were invaded?
No way
TACO.
The Art of the Deal … Trump bends over and squeals in Russian.
Amazing. Putin bombs more civilians while Trump gives him a round of applause.
Very disappointed in DT.
So, here's a thing. Putin wants this war to end just as much as Zelensky. Russia has lost a million soldiers killed, wounded and maimed. He's lost thousands of tanks/armoured vehicles, his bomber fleet has been massively reduced and he's lost a fifth of the Black Sea Fleet. He invaded Ukraine and now this fools errand wishes he'd never started it. He says he doesn't want missiles on his borders, so what's he do, he pushes his borders closer to the very missiles that he doesn't want near him.
Putin's a master of disinformation and lies and all he's doing is stroking Trumps ego. Im not saying that the leader of the west will fall for it but he must listen to his NATO allies, we've seen what appeasement can do and it didn't work out for Chamberlain either.🇬🇧
‘We agreed on a lot of points, a lot of points we agreed on’.
If the eu are out of the talks there is a grear chance of peace.
You've been American Allied. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
The man is an absolute clown. He can't even string a coherent sentence together, and saying the same thing twice, doesn't make it true.
If Trump sells out Ukraine, we are entering a new phase and abandoning the rules based order we've lived under for the past 60-70 years, and going into an era of war, whereby powerful nations can change their borders by force and this be an accepted practice.
We can see this happening before our eyes.
This is a collective failure of the west to to show some balls, the UN is dead.
And it's being spearheaded by this orange imbecile with a god complex.
For the love of god, Norway…
Don't ever give the peace prize to the man. He's been the most destabilising influence the world has seen in decades.
Such a great leader and so transparent
He won't get peace, Putin wants Ukraine land, he won't stop.
So is Trump a communist? feels like it.
President Zelensky? He was not re-elected.
What a complete twat
Guess who has no cards? Can't blame the man, he knows he can't stop it by force sanctions and tariffs can't stop it too – what exactly are people expecting him to do? Give him a break, at least he tried
Zelenskis puppet master's dont want war to end. Too much money being laundered
Trump is incoherent, and obviously out of his depth, he should stick to selling MAGA hats.
More gobbledegook from Trump. He's irrepressible.
Sounds like trump didn't di anything, ukraine wants Russia out of its territories full stop, SLAVA UKRAINE
What about the killings you do in Palestine
😂😂😂😂😂😂 can't take him seriously.
Putin probably said “you get Gaza & we get Ukraine “ & that’s what they probably agreed on.
Trump – you're being strung along – are you blind?
TACO is a looser
Stop aiding Ukraine
I wonder what they did in their "alone time" 😏
🤥
As per usual Donald Trump listens to the last person in the room and is the only person who has not done his due diligence on Putins background. He is a man who has rose through the ranks of the KGB and cannot be trusted at all unless your name is Trump or Vance. Starmer our Prime Minister is not the best to say the least but he and the rest of Europe are under no illusion about the threat Putin is. He was bombing Ukraine during the Meeting, so that tells you all you need to know about him.
Ukraine is a Nazi state!
