Synopsis: The Most Barbaric Medical Treatment Still Being Used Today
In this eye-opening video, Dr. Eric Berg explores the unsettling reality of electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), one of the most controversial treatments in mental health care. Despite being labeled barbaric and outdated, ECT remains prevalent as a treatment for depression and other mental illnesses, costing patients between $2,000 and $2,500 per session. Notably, it’s covered by Medicaid and Medicare, creating a multi-billion dollar industry.
Dr. Berg reveals how ECT has never been scientifically proven effective, lacking double-blind placebo trials. Alarmingly, it’s performed on vulnerable populations, including children and pregnant women, with the UN condemning it as a human rights abuse. The treatment involves administering 150 volts to induce a seizure, but comes with severe side effects, including potential brain damage, memory loss, and increased risk of suicide.
Drawing from personal insights, Dr. Berg advocates for alternative, holistic approaches to mental health, emphasizing diet and lifestyle changes as safer options. He urges viewers to sign a petition against ECT, calling for an end to this widely accepted yet ethically contentious practice.

This barbaric mental health therapy costs around $2000 to $2500 per treatment, and is covered by Medicaid, Medicare, and the VA system. It’s a multibillion-dollar market! The average treatment plan includes 12 sessions in the first month, followed by maintenance sessions every 3 weeks.
This treatment has never been scientifically proven to work! There have been no official trials, and it has even been performed on children and pregnant women. The UN calls this treatment a human rights abuse and compares this forced treatment on minors to torture. In China, it’s actually used as a form of torture.
In addition, this treatment has never been FDA-approved and was merely grandfathered in. In 2018, the FDA downgraded it from a high-risk classification to a moderate-risk classification. This dangerous treatment causes structural brain damage, creates swelling and inflammation in the brain, and even kills brain cells.
Electroconvulsive therapy involves putting 150 volts through a person’s brain to induce a grand mal seizure. ECT treatment comes with many side effects, has 60 documented adverse events, and can cause permanent brain damage, memory loss, and heart attacks.
This treatment uses enough energy to stop the heart, and there is nothing stopping the voltage from traveling to the rest of the body. This can lead to cardiac arrest! People who use this treatment are also at an increased risk of suicide.
I’ve seen firsthand in practice that people who’ve had this treatment lose their personality, humor, creativity, and more. ECT treatment can lead to death, destruction of cells and mitochondria, and shrinking of the hippocampus. Neurologist Dr. John Feinberg noted in 1977 that ECT caused structural brain damage, indistinguishable from head trauma.
If you have depression, diet and lifestyle changes may help. Increasing vitamin D levels, B-vitamin levels, and omega-3 levels, along with a low-carb diet and intermittent fasting, can significantly improve your symptoms.

Transgender surgeries on confused teenagers is the number one worst.
My mother had this "treatment " around 1963. In 1964, she attempted suicide. In 1975, she had her first heart attack, at age 42. She spent most of the rest of her life sleeping. She was up and down all day and all night. She went on to have a stroke and another heart attack. I believe the decision robbed my mother of a good, happy life as well as stealing my childhood from me.
3 maderna jabs gave my husband turbo bvFTD. Must be the jab version of ECT. Democide complete.
No evidence to support the claim that “China (the PRC) uses it to torture people”? 🤔
Wow, good job, Doc.
Keepemcoming
My dad had electro shock therapy and it messed him up real bad, there are other brutal therapies that were done that I can’t go into.
Thank you for talking about this!!❤ it is DISGUSTING what these sickos get away with
I remember an old "Law and Order" episode from 30 years ago about shock therapy being used on autistic children.
If you want to look into another "fun" one, check out Antidepressant withdrawal syndrome. I've been disabled now for 7 years from it.
Modern medical practices is just expensive mid evil practices.
Hats off to you Sir 🎉🎉🎉
ECT is up there right alongside Chemo and radiation therapies .
ECT therapy comes up on google search as being available at every hospital in Calgary , as well as at private clinics here too . In hospitals , it would be covered under Medicare here , private clinics, they’d have to pay , unless they had insurance under private coverage . Disgusting !
It was done to me against my will. Concentration has never been the same.
Many years ago I had one treatment and lost a full day. So I refused it and my psychiatrist discharged me as a patient.
This is insane! Why would anyone think electrocuting someone's brain would be a good idea?
Thank you so much Dr. Berg for bringing this to light. When the doctors wanted to dot his to my daughter just about a year ago I strongly opposed it. Her mom was for it, because she had gotten away with abusing her and wanted her to forget that she had abused her, I had to angrily yell at the psychiatrist team for over an hour and again for about an hour on the phone explaining , as best I could, my opposition to this barbaric treatment. I agree 100% that this needs to be banned in the USA permanently. I am signing the petition and broadcasting this video on all of my social media accounts to raise awareness. I love you and your mission Dr. Berg. Please keep up all of your precious work for all of us. Thank you again.
It's sad to hear that.Thank you so much drberg
We know!!! Chemo…. xx…
We certainly have the most corrupt medical system in the entire world.
All my Aunts had this done, thank God my mother didn’t get it,
Well they gotta make sure to do permanent damage so your stuck on the fixit pill forever
My Grandfather made his daughters get this done
I had no ideal they still did it? Thank you Dr Berg
First, it is important to point out that the pictures you show in this video do not represent how ECT is done today. Patients are given a sedative and do not feel anything during the treatment so I feel you have used these images unfairly as a scare tactic. With that being said, I am not promoting it but at the same time many professionals feel psychiatric medications are chemical lobotomies, they just damage the brain slowly over time. Something else to point out is that ECT does show the most improvement of any treatment in severe mental illness and we do know why. Dr. Jack Kruse has explained this many times in various podcasts that the reason why ECT works so well is that it is literally giving the brain electrons, like charging the mitochondria. But the issue is that it does not last permanently, why is this? Dr. Jack Kruse explains that the reason why the “charge” does not last is a lack of neuromelanin. If one does a deep dive study on melanin, it has many amazing properties in the body and especially the brain and one thing it does is act as an energy storage depot. This is why melanin is being studied and used in solar panels. Therefore, fix the neuromelanin deficiency issue and one can then work on naturally holding electrons so the mitochondria can do their job properly. There is a lot more science to it and I encourage those interested to look into the work of Dr. Jack Kruse. When one is dealing with or caring for someone with a severe mental illness, I understand why they will look for anything to help and if we are gong to demonize ECT we should just as equally demonize antipsychotics. There is a place for ECT and antipsychotics in acute situations, but once one is stabilized the goal should be looking at root causes to support and heal the mitochondria instead of being told to take antipsychotics and/or ECT for life.
My aunt had this done when she was in her teens, she's in her 70s now and she is not normal her brain does not function right at all it's really sad
My 65y/o friend had this done 3 years ago. He's never been the same since and his depression/anxiety is still just as bad. I am an epileptic and could never understand why anyone would WANT to induce seizures! They give epileptics ANTI seizure meds for a reason! To PREVENT further brain damage from the seizures!
As long as it brings good profits 😂
I wanted to sign this petition but the form did not recognize my address which I have encountered on other occasions. I live on a numbered street and this causes some sites to reject the request.
Frankenstein era thinking. Is lightening still used?
Bravo Dr Berg for speaking the truth!!!Thank you Dr Berg!!
Absolutely barbaric! Thank you so much for bringing this light Dr Berg. ❤
The walsh protocol
What are they hoping to accomplish with this so called therapy??
As a nursing student who completed their psych clinical as The Lindner Center of Hope, affiliated with The Mayo Clinic, I was allowed to shadow their ECT treatment center. I know that ECT isn’t as punitive as it was when first introduced, nor do they administer the same amount of watts/ volts as they did a long time ago. I’m just curious as to what your opinion would be an alternative for a patient who does not respond to medications or highly dislikes the side effects? I also know as a health nut myself, we have a lot more control of our minds and bodies than a lot of people seem to realize such as what we consume.
Excuse me, Doc. Do you know the best supplement for muscle imbalance? Or for overrall muscle health?
How could anyone think this is a good thing? The medical community is EVIL.
So, i did what you said and looked up ECT near me… i am mind blown!
The website states that: this is an evidence-based treatment for severe depression. Very easy to get an appointment…
My trust in doctors seems to plummet each day a little more…
Thank you for your Videos Dr.Berg! Greetings from Switzerland
They do it in salt lake, I dropped a friend off there and after a week she wanted to leave and they wouldn't let her. She was there for almost 2 months and now she is not anywhere near the same person.

Very well done for bringing this to our attention. It's disgusting. Should be outlawed worldwide.
