Tragedy Strikes in Thailand as Crane Falls on Passenger Train, Leaving at Least 22 Dead
In a devastating incident north of Bangkok, at least 22 people lost their lives and many others suffered injuries when a construction crane, intended for the building of an elevated high-speed railway, collapsed onto a moving passenger train. This tragic event has drawn immediate attention to the safety protocols surrounding construction operations and the vulnerability of railway infrastructure.
The crane fell onto the train while it was in transit, causing it to derail and subsequently ignite. Eyewitness accounts describe a chaotic scene as emergency responders rushed to the site to rescue those trapped inside the wreckage. Authorities have confirmed that there were 195 passengers aboard the train at the time of the accident, and recovery teams are working tirelessly to locate any remaining survivors and recover additional bodies believed to be trapped within the mangled carriages.
As investigations into the cause of the crane’s collapse begin, the incident has raised urgent questions regarding the oversight of construction projects and the safety measures employed during such operations. Officials are expected to conduct thorough reviews of both the construction site and the railway systems to ensure that proper protocols are followed to prevent future tragedies.
The emotional toll of the accident is profound, as families await news of their loved ones. The community is grappling with the aftermath of the disaster, mourning those lost while also advocating for stronger regulations to ensure safety within the rapidly developing infrastructure projects across the country.
This incident is a tragic reminder of the risks associated with large-scale construction, particularly in densely populated areas. As recovery efforts continue, the focus now shifts to accountability and the critical need for enhanced safety measures in the ever-evolving landscape of transportation development in Thailand.

What did they expect having heavy machinery above an active train line? Unfortunate but avoidable incident.
😢😢
China.
Must be the filming of the new James Bond; Casino-Royal-2 or something.
Chinese belt and road projects going wonderfully well again.
Karma finds its ways
I’d use the word journalist with this guy loosely. He stutter so much. And to call this train part of the track that goes to China is laughable.
The high speed contractor is the same company with collaped building that happened in March 28, 2025.
The contractor for the Lam Takhong-Sikhio section where the accident occurred was the Italian-Thai Development Public Company Limited (ITD) of Thailand.,

At first I misread Crane as Plane
Stacked iron plate shims shfted
Corruption.
Please these kind of disasters happen everyday in China but never get mentioned in the media.
Regular, weekly occurrence here in Thailand. I warn everyone stay away from crane sites.
这条铁路建设进程非常缓慢,因为泰国拒绝将工程委托给中国公司承建。由于泰国本地工人缺乏建设经验、安全意识淡漠,造成了今天的惨剧。
It doesn't concern China. It high speed train track under construction by Thai contractor for state railway of Thailand. High speed rail is above existing local rail line which is in operation.
Thailand is a dangerous country. Whatever you do, don't drive there! In 1995, I was driving on a highway from Pattaya to Bangkok when it suddenly ended. There were no signs indicating the end of the highway. I plunged maybe 10 meters and landed right in the middle of a farm. Luckily, I was unharmed and continued my journey the next morning. I reached Bangkok in a completely wrecked car, a 1989 BMW. Once, a Japanese man was thrown from his car by a strange curb on a highway and died. When you visit temples, you see pictures of car or motorcycle accidents and body parts lying around. I used to pay for funerals for such people. If you go to a temple and pay some money for a deceased person, you are allowed to pray before Buddha. It's like a protective shield for you! 🙏
Sad news. May God comfort their families.
china funded project
This is "final destination" type of disaster.
Well, that's unlucky.
Ital Thai development corp Foooked
Italian-Thai Development Company at it again? They should be banned.
Are you filming in a shower? The audio is so bad 😢
They going to put the blame on Cambodia again
Cause: incompetent and complicit.
made in China
Connecting train to China is not the problem. The problem is the contractor is Italian – Thailand Wholly owned. China and its companies have nothing to do with the incident. Thailand government forbid Chinese companies to build the high speed rail in Thailand; they allow to use Chinese made high speed rail only
How are countries still signing onto the belt and road initiative. Its so blatantly obvious that its a scam now.
My condolences.
It's a BRI project so it's expected 😅
Even by Chinese standard Chinese built fast lanes and tracks are unsafe.
It's based on their own security berou . 😂
Craine MADE IN CHINA…?😂
The incident occurred on an elevated section of a "Thai-Chinese" high-speed rail project, which is part of China's Belt and Road Initiative.
Wishing them a quick rescue and recovery
It will be the poor workers returning home after months of laboring in the South of the country! So sad for them all!
Oh yeah the silly Manchurian Belt and Road Initiative.

😢🙏RIP
Cranes on a train was not the sequel we wanted.
I question my head why do you allow train to pass on construction site yet you are aware of accidents on site what safety precautions was taken before construction
If you want to have a final destination vacation go to thailand!
Why bring up the past record of transport accidents? This is obviously an industrial accident relating to the construction industry. Why bring up past bus accident that's completely irrelevant?
