Urgent Freeze and Frost Alerts for New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut as Temperatures Plummet

A Freeze Warning and multiple Frost Advisories are in effect across New York, northern New Jersey and Connecticut tonight, as temperatures drop to freezing or just above.

The National Weather Service offices in New York, Albany, Boston/Norton, Mount Holly and Burlington have issued alerts for late tonight into Wednesday morning.

New York: Freeze Warning

NWS Albany has a Freeze Warning from midnight tonight to 8 a.m. EDT Wednesday.

It covers Northern Saratoga, Northern Washington, Southeast Warren and Southern Washington counties.

Cities include Glens Falls, Saratoga Springs, Hudson Falls, Whitehall, Greenwich, Granville and Fort Edward.

Temperatures at or below 32 degrees are expected. Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops and sensitive vegetation, and may damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.

New York: Capital District and Hudson Valley

NWS Albany also has a Frost Advisory over the same hours.

It covers the Capital District, the mid-Hudson Valley and the southern Taconics, including Albany, Troy, Schenectady, Kingston, Poughkeepsie, Beacon, Hudson and New Paltz.

Temperatures between 33 and 36 degrees will result in frost formation.

NWS Albany said the cold will reach areas where the growing season is still underway.

New York: Orange, Putnam and the Champlain Valley

NWS New York has a Frost Advisory for Orange and Putnam counties from 11 p.m. this evening to 9 a.m. EDT Wednesday, with lows as cold as 32 degrees.

Farther north, NWS Burlington has a Frost Advisory for the New York side of the Champlain Valley, covering Eastern Clinton and Eastern Essex counties, including Plattsburgh, Champlain and Ticonderoga.

That advisory runs from midnight to 7 a.m. EDT Wednesday, with temperatures as low as 33 degrees.

Connecticut

NWS New York has a Frost Advisory for Northern Fairfield, Northern New Haven, Northern Middlesex and Northern New London counties, from 11 p.m. this evening to 9 a.m. EDT Wednesday.

Temperatures as low as 32 degrees will result in frost formation.

NWS Boston has a matching advisory for Hartford, Tolland and Windham counties, including Hartford, Windsor Locks, Willimantic and Putnam, with temperatures of 31 to 36 degrees.

In the northwest corner of the state, NWS Albany has a Frost Advisory for Northern and Southern Litchfield County, from midnight to 8 a.m. EDT Wednesday.
