Doctors Volunteer to Help Americans Cut Off from Health Care by the Cost | 60 Minutes
In a powerful segment airing this week on “60 Minutes,” viewers are introduced to Remote Area Medical (RAM), a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing free health care to those who are often left with no options. As millions of Americans face rising health care costs, RAM’s clinics are a beacon of hope, offering essential dental, vision, and medical treatments.
The episode reveals the incredible lengths some patients go to access care—waiting days and sleeping in their cars to secure a spot for treatment. The tireless efforts of volunteer doctors and medical professionals shine a light on the dire need for accessible health care in the United States and the compassion of those willing to step in where the system falls short.
“60 Minutes,” a landmark program boasting over 50 seasons of investigative reporting and in-depth interviews, continues to tackle pressing societal issues with the same intensity and commitment to truth that made it a household name since its debut in 1968.

Fo sho 😅
This is amazinjg. GOD BLESS THESE VOLUNTEERS!
Wow all these hospitals and they having to act like this is a third world country
Thank heavens this administration worked hard to make sure rich people don't have to pay federal taxes anymore. That would have been too awful for them to do their fair share.
Step 1. Free Luigi
Step 2. Give address to every hospital CEO and health care executive
Step 3. Enlist mossad to assist
Step 4. Health care
Nice to hear people are trying to help, but it's not a long term solution. It's absolutely disgraceful that a Nation as rich as the US has these types of issues!
Same here from New Jersey I have no health insurance no dental insurance and I seriously need dental help and there's no way I could afford 13,000 so I just live in pain
hello, I am from Russia of course our country have many problems but what I see in US with Healthcare is absolutely ridiculous . in Russia absolutely everyone has a free healthcare. We pay taxes and we get free healthcare. it’s better or worse in some regions, but still it’s free Of course you won’t get expensive tooth implant for free but everyone can get treatments, fillings and denture with no fee or almost no fee
A nursing student here, I truly can't wait to have the privilege to help and make a difference after being brought to tears by this.
We do not live in a serious country.
Thank you for covering this. It's awful that the supposed first world country has so many people that can't afford medical care. On the other hand, it's encouraging to see how many people are willing to donate their money and time to help others in need.
They put this uneducated play acting hateful greedy rich dude in charge of the presidency and now we all are paying for it. Trump is using the presidency to enrich himself and use cruel hatred on people he dislike.
These are the same people who voted for trump every single time. I dont understand how people like this keep voting for a government (republicans) who want to take away their health care and stuff. I feel bad for the circumstances but they did this to themselves
Great work here
Life changing
Wonderful organization!! ❤
☺️
I volunteered at this event in Big Rapids, MI. It is amazing how RAM organizes and builds the event for 2 days. And it is a ton of work but also a whole lot of fun and really rewarding to see people who really need dental care get it. If there is one nearby; give it a try. There are lots of tasks that need no medical knowledge. You'll meet some incredible people, both patients and volunteers.
Wonderful story. I am a practicing Dentist and have volunteered my time, as well, and have seen the lines of people in need. Honestly, though, every city needs an event like this every day because the need is so great. We are treating the symptom, not the disease: we need a healthcare system that prevents this problem and ensures care from the cradle to the grave. A system that begins by simply screening kids in kindergarten, not by volunteers, but by paid staff. Prevention is cheap, treatment is expensive, is the motto.
These events, while wonderful and inspiring, will not solve the problem. For every, one person seen, hundreds are not and just chase the next event, hoping to be seen. The rest of the industrialized world has universal healthcare. It isn't perfect, but our system of monetizing suffering is not the answer. My two cents…
Blame the vaccine scar tissue
Although they do physical and internal health. But do they do mental health care in which is important as physical health. Although people talk about mental illness and health all the time.
Pisses me off when I see people do things that our government should do
Had the pleasure of volunteering setting up the dental stations. Great organization.
