The tragic death of Brandon Lee on the set of 1994’s ‘The Crow’ shook the entertainment industry and added fuel to a longstanding conspiracy theory surrounding the Lee family ‘curse’. The young actor, son of martial arts legend Bruce Lee, died at the young age of 28 on March 31, 1993, after an accidental shooting with a prop gun and a ‘dummy’ bullet while filming his character’s on-screen murder.
In one of his final interviews, Brandon opened up to ET just weeks before his untimely death, giving an intimate glimpse into what it was like growing up in the shadow of his cultural icon father. He also discussed how his role as revenge-driven Eric Draven in ‘The Crow’ was set to propel him to mainstream success in Hollywood.
The behind-the-scenes account of Brandon’s tragic shooting reveals the chain of negligence that led to the fatal accident. His mother, Linda Lee Caldwell, and sister, Shannon Lee, expressed their devastation over the loss of Brandon but ultimately supported the release of ‘The Crow’ and his final role hitting theaters on May 13, 1994.
Thirty years later, Brandon’s fiancée, Eliza Hutton, broke her silence following Alec Baldwin’s accidental shooting on the set of ‘Rust’ in 2021. She called for a reevaluation of gun use in Hollywood, reflecting on the loss of Brandon just days before their wedding and the bright future he had envisioned. Brandon had told ET that his future was ‘gonna be great’, but sadly, that was not meant to be.
‘The Crow’ continues to be a beloved and iconic film, now streaming on Paramount+. The legacy of Brandon Lee lives on through his groundbreaking performance in the film, and his family continues to honor his memory while advocating for safer practices on film sets.

RIP Brandon Lee
First of all, it was not an accident or negligence, but murder. A firearm should never be used in a movie, but maybe a toy gun. If it's a prop gun with a real bullet in it, it can't just be left there, it can only be deliberately placed. That's right. Brandon Li was murdered,
His father was taken out by poisoning or his drug usage but the symptoms looked more like poisoning. I watched him lose weight and show weakness, which were signs of slow poisoning.
I was somewhere nearby when BL died in Hong Kong and I was in Tokyo in 1993 when Brandon was murdered. The rest are just made up stories.
Mother Linda was not there and did not see anything, she said BL died of natural causes, which was not the case. When BL died he was in his lover's apartment and already died in her apartment and DOA at the hospital .Linda didn't see him until he was in his coffin.
A curse? YES, there is a curse in every part of the world, and the Chinese one is REAL, especially with stories like this about life and coming back from death, it sounds weird, but it exists because if you believe in prayers, you have to believe in curses.
As for the actor and acting, Brandon Lee was to be the most famous with this movie and that's why he was taken out.
I used to believe that it was the Armorer’s job to check the gun, period. But Clooney is right. The actor should do the final check to make sure that the gun is ok to fire.
I can’t believe I never saw this movie (the original) and I share his Birthday Brandon damn May he R.I.P. I loved watching his father movies too! 🤍🕊️😢
Cant imagine what his mother, his sister and Eliza felt aftr hearing about his death
Thier legacies will live on! I gotta go back and visit their graves again.. glad my mom and got to see the original movie on the big screen for the anniversary
An impossibly likable man. More likable than his father believe it or not.
We all lost 😢
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
💐
Remake clbloooooowwwss
I was so sad when I found out what happened because I loved The Crow. Hollywood was and is still negligent. Look at what happened recently with Rust. They are still using real guns 🤦♀️
such a preventable death. Brandon Lee was going to be a star. He won't be forgotten.
I remember when this happened. It sent shock waves! Rip Brandon Lee
Brandon such a loss 😢
Given what happened to Brandon Lee during the making of The Crow, I think the best way Hollywood could honor Brandon Lee is just leave The Crow alone. No more reboots, no more sequels. Just leave it be.
Watched a video about the artist of the crow. So damn sad.. dunno why they mad the main character s drug addict joker copy.. the artist lost his gf in a car ccisent and had survivors guilt and wrote this story as a way to heal, but time didn’t really help.. which is why there is a theme of revenge but then what.. what if it’s not satisfying etc.
9:47 history repeated because of neglecgence
How do you know Brandon Lee went to heaven after mocking Jesus Christ on set?
Rust
Hard to believe Brandon Lee's passing was 31 years ago already he was such an amazing actor it's sad that he was killed onset he's been gone 31 years and I still miss his acting he was too young to die and didn't deserve to die 😢 💔
It Can't Rain All The Time, Eric! 👩🏻🎤
🗽🌃🌌🌧😢🚶🏼♀️🛹
Was Alex Baldwin on the set?
so sad such a good looking guy taken too soon
LOVED THIS MOVIE WHEN I WAS A TEENAGER ❣️ AND NOW I WANT TO WATCH IT AGAIN 🙏 THE ORIGINAL ONE NOT THE NEW
Wait… didn’t his dad died the same way?! wtf 😳
Let me guess, it's Alex Baldwins' fault.
Murder 100%. How in the hell do they not double check… so weird. Unbelievable how the actor who fired the gun didnt feel the difference with real bullet inside. It would be heavier… cmon.
Negligence 101
