I’m still wondering about charging infrastructure. A 500-mile electric truck is great on paper, but how many megawatts of charging capacity does a large fleet actually need to keep these trucks moving?
$260K–$290K is a lot for a truck. The operating-cost argument makes sense, but how many years would a fleet actually need to run a Semi before the higher purchase price pays for itself?
Autonomous driving on long-haul routes could be a much bigger deal than the electric powertrain itself. But I’d want to see thousands of miles of real-world testing before trusting it with an 80,000-lb truck.
The 500-mile range sounds impressive, but I’m more curious about what happens when the truck is fully loaded, driving in winter, and dealing with hills. Real-world range is what matters to fleets.
Losing almost 1,000 pounds sounds small until you remember that every pound can potentially become cargo. For a trucking company, that could actually be more important than acceleration or horsepower.
The 1.7 kWh per mile figure caught my attention. Does anyone know how that compares with actual Semi fleet data over long distances rather than Tesla’s stated numbers?
I actually like the vertical integration strategy. Making the batteries, drive units, and other components in the same facility could remove a lot of supply-chain headaches. But does it really make the truck cheaper?
The Semi seems much more convincing to me as a fleet product than as a consumer-style EV. The real test isn't whether it has impressive specs—it's whether a trucking company can make more money using it than using diesel.
The energy-cost comparison is interesting, but electricity prices vary massively depending on location and charging setup. I’d like to see a full TCO comparison including maintenance, charging infrastructure, battery degradation, and financing.
The 50,000 trucks per year target is the part I’m most skeptical about. Building a few hundred is very different from maintaining that production rate year after year.
It's worth every penny in the long haul run will pay for itself 1-5years💪😁
👏👏👏
Tesla is King
Savings will be larger , because of battery improvement. If other type of battery comes to the market or Tesla can do it on ther preferd shape, the battery pack can be changed at some point on the truck life. Lower cost pact +improved energy density will increase Semi range and for the next gem of Semi it will be even cheaper and also FSD will be comon on by the time there is another improveed Semi. Technology never stops.
Box truck design needed for the super c RV industry 😊
why would we not like elon musk?
awsome very innovative respect sir.. well done.
Elon is god. He has created the heaven semi.
why is it taking so long.. its going to be a nightmare. they are trying to make it work.. good luck Elon.
what a crap of promotional material. America as it worst!
In my opinion the biggest advantage of the Tesla Semi is that it is electric.Go to Europe map the routes place the charges viola inevitably🤔
It takes days to get fully charged
The rapid deployment of Tesla’s Megachargers generates a lot of buzz—their charging is so fast that my double diet cheeseburger isn’t even finished yet. 🍔
