Are the Taliban Now India’s Friend and Pakistan’s Enemy? A Closer Look at the Shifting Geopolitical Landscape
In recent weeks, tensions have escalated in South Asia, as deadly clashes between Afghan and Pakistani forces have brought key border crossings to a standstill. These hostilities cast a long shadow over regional stability and have given rise to substantial concerns about the precarious balance of power in the area. In a striking turn of events, India seems to be forging closer ties with the Taliban, while Pakistan finds itself at odds with the very group it once sought to influence.
The video, “Are the Taliban Now India’s Friend and Pakistan’s Enemy?” produced by DW News Desk, delves deep into the complexities of this evolving relationship, shedding light on the underlying causes and potential consequences of these geopolitical shifts.
Background of the Conflict
The video begins with a historical overview, tracing the roots of conflict between Afghanistan and Pakistan, a relationship steeped in mutual suspicion, territorial disputes, and competing national interests. These issues have recently come to the forefront, exacerbated by skirmishes at the border, leading to significant concerns about an extended conflict that could destabilize the region.
The Afghan-Pakistani Tensions
At the 13-minute mark, viewers are introduced to an analysis of why armed clashes have flared up between Pakistan and the Taliban. The discourse highlights the Taliban’s resurgence in Afghanistan after U.S. withdrawal and how their actions have increasingly antagonized Pakistan, which perceives them as a potential threat to its own security.
India’s Emerging Role
As the situation deteriorates, the 36-minute segment brings forth the intriguing alliance between India and the Taliban. Historically, India has been wary of the Taliban’s influence, but a pragmatic shift in strategy appears to be underway. India’s engagement with the Taliban has raised eyebrows, as the country seeks to solidify its standing in Afghanistan and counteract Pakistan’s influence.
Women’s Rights Under the Taliban Regime
A critical aspect of the discussion is the future of women’s rights in Afghanistan, touched upon at the 51-minute mark. The Taliban’s ideology poses significant challenges for women’s freedoms and opportunities. The video highlights the international community’s concern over whether Afghan women will be afforded a fair chance under Taliban rule, providing insight into the humanitarian implications of the geopolitical landscape.
The Future of Bagram Airbase
The future of key military assets, such as the Bagram airbase, is another essential topic discussed in the video. At the 42-minute mark, experts weigh in on how control over such strategic locations could play a pivotal role in the ongoing power struggles between regional players.
Pakistan’s Perspective
The video also presents a Pakistani viewpoint, exploring its complex reaction to India’s engagement with the Taliban. This perspective is crucial for understanding the multifaceted dynamics at play in this evolving geopolitical scenario.
Conclusion

The fact is Pakistan and Afganistan are up for durand line and the treatment of afganis as somewhat lower to pakistanis in everyday life. Quoting that they helped afganistan during war against russia and Nato but the fact is Pakistan used that war to get money even if it got its citizens killed.
As an Indian Bhartiya We Fully Support Afghanistan and their Govt…. And we can clearly see now Afganistan is more peaceful than Pakistan …
Pak attacking Afghanistan for their master TRUMP, so that trump can stop “one more” war and Pak PM can advocate for his master ! 😂 he is the campaign manager, also trump eye is on the airport that they flee without understanding it’s importance !
If Pakistan is triggered by India giving some ambulances, food supplies and medical equipment to Afghanistan, i dont know how they even call themself as friend of Afghanistan.
As long as both India and Afghanistan doesn't intervene in internal matters of each others country. We are always open to have a very close ties with Afghanistan as it was the actual western neighbor of India before British torn our country down to create their puppet state called Pakistan.
Indian and Afghan lobby discussing Pakistan Influence over Afghanistan
The reality is either Mulla or Simple Afgando in plain clothes hates the existence of PAKISTAN because of the reason Pak replaced India in western frontier.
The long-lasting solution for Afghanistan is to work on the plan to divide Afghanistan among Tajik, Hazaras, Uzbik, and Pushtoons.

If you breed snakes in your backyard, they will come and bite you..thats what happening with Pakistan …it is home to largest number of UN sanctioned terrorists ,Pakistan military is hosting them…that’s why osama bin laden was found just few yards away from a pak military base.

9:16 These DW Anchors are strange. They say terrorists in Kandahar were backed by Pakistan it was claimed by India. These are established facts not just claims. They were Pakistanis. News for you. Not the world.
Pakistan should stop supporting all terrorist groups. Complaning about TTP while they openly support anti India militants is hypocritical. The problem is Pakistan is continuing to support certain terrorist. Just stop supporting all forms of terrorist group and make friendship with India.
🇵🇰🪖: Never won the war Never lost in the election.
🇵🇰🤵Never won the war Never lost in social media.

What could go wrong on NewsDesk with an Indian, British, Pakistani and Chinese origin discussing India-Pak relations😂
It is regrettable Pakistan needs good relationship with Afghanistan and vise versa. Afghanistan should not be underestimated and Talibans have support of TTP it will promote law in order situation in Pakistan different areas. As Saudi Arabia Qather and Chin demanded to restrain deescalate Pakistan and Afghanistan and resolve the issues through negotiations. I think this is the right way to prevail peace in the region . I don't think Pakistan will not be able to get anything in Afghanistan as we know Russia USA even the Britishers failed to implement their agenda.
Ms Javaid is lying through her teeth. Is she scared for her family back in Pakistan? It's no point giving platform to Pakistanis whose family is under threat back home. They can only peddle ISI narrative and nothing objective comes from them. Ms Javaid be honest and quit pretending to be an analyst. You are a propagandist.
Its indian sub continent not south asia.
