At least 11 dead as car plowed into Christmas market in Germany’s Magdeburg

At least 11 people have been confirmed dead after a car plowed into a Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany on Friday night. According to state premier Reiner Haseloff, two people were killed and there are numerous injured, with reports suggesting around 70 casualties.

Despite speculation on social media, the motive of the driver has not been released by authorities in Magdeburg. The incident has raised memories of a 2016 attack on a Berlin Christmas market, where 13 people were killed and over 70 injured by an Islamist in a stolen truck.
