1,500 Campers Trapped by Floods West of Calgary as Local Emergency Declared
In a stark reminder of nature’s unpredictability, about 1,500 campers find themselves stranded in the picturesque regions west of Calgary as heavy rainfall has led to severe flooding, prompting local officials to declare a state of emergency. Communities that depend on tourism and outdoor recreation are now grappling with the immediate dangers posed by rising waters.
The relentless downpour over the past several days has not only flooded numerous campsites but has also resulted in evacuation alerts across the area. Authorities are urging residents and visitors to steer clear of waterways due to the heightened risk of flash floods and treacherous conditions. As the situation develops, fear and uncertainty linger among those affected, as many remain cut off from critical resources and support.
In response to this escalating crisis, Alberta Parks staff and various emergency responders have been mobilized to assist in the evacuation efforts. These teams are working tirelessly to ensure the safety of trapped campers, coordinate road closures, and monitor the integrity of local infrastructure. The joint efforts of these organizations highlight the seriousness of the situation and the urgency required to safeguard those at risk.
As local communities band together to confront this natural disaster, the impact of heavy rainfall serves as a stark reminder of the fragility of our environments. With continued rain forecasts, the potential for further complications looms large, making it imperative for everyone to stay informed and prepared as they navigate this challenging situation. As the sun shines down on the region’s stunning landscapes, the stark contrast with the current crisis underscores the significant challenges faced by both nature and community in times of distress.

These campers are privledged to even go camping so don't whine.
Why do they build so cheap
By connectivity and transportation corridors, does he mean roads?
Good for them. Let them, come out on their own… otherwise, they wont Learn….
Or maybe stop the climate engineering🤷🏻♂️
1:23 Haha, “This is not the time to visit…” and then we see the most amazing kayaking footage that will make every kayaker jump for joy, pack up the Subaru and speed down to K country!
funny how all this bad weather is only hitting Alberta, weather modification to punish us for wanting
Independence from Ottawa, wonder who paid for the cloud seeding!
⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️
Doesn't it flood, every year? Is this challenging for Albertans?
Lmao
This why I always have at least 3 weeks worth of beer at camp one can always dream lucky bums
Who goes to a place that floods regularly hiring a time of heavy rain and then goes on TV and says I’m a victim?
Will it be clear by late August?
What's with the excessive rain in AB? I thought I heard El Niño is happening, but this is definitely not it
Funny cons a month ago when they warned of flooding with all the expected rain cried how it was fear mongering. Now we have a town flooded, people trapped by flood,.and flood damage across Alberta.
Hilarious! The camera was supposed to highlight the “doom and gloom” and then a kayaker comes a paddling by, having a great time! 1500 campers just got an extension on their holiday, that’s great news! Might want to change the narrative of this broadcast.
It's terrible that the technology to rapidly build a portable, pre-fabricated, truss bridge hasn't been invented. Oh wait it was in 1940. Have military engineers erect a Bailey Bridge.
How do you adjust for all the teeth to be the same size? Or do you have to make a visual judgment?
Heck yah, I wouldn't mind being standed there as long as I had my coffee and a good book to read lol. Stay safe Friends! ❤
THIS IS HILARIOUS! RIGHT GUYS?
God says in the last days their will be wars and rumors of wars..
earthquakes.fires..floods..
Gods Prophesy is upon us
Shoulda bought a boat..ha ha
Well they are campers so the only thing they would need is water and food. They should have tents and other gear.
Just send them some army rations and they will be fine. 😂😂
Wait until the glacier melts.
Irresponsible to show those kayakers when officials have asked people to stay off the river. Mention, if you wish, that some are ignoring those directions but don't show them. It just invites high-risk takers to do the same, putting rescue workers at increased risk of having to rescue the clueless.
Don’t people learn ….
You see Albertans, climate changebis not real! 🤪
When I saw the trapped, I thought just that.
Good people have an option for a roof and not at risk of being swept away.
That poor guy in Yosemite wasn't so fortunate falling 600 feet to his death in rapids.
I hope rescue stays safe and people listen.
No one wants to get stuck, but if it's going to happen…
That is really roughing it. 😂😂😂😂
Heck yeah kayakers 😅🤘🏼
It’s a very long Canada Day weekend for campers in K-country. Hope they don’t run out of beer.
Good! More please!
get military get bridge up
Hot FLOODED,

Im stuck in the forest
Please come and get meeee!
I got some booze and mushrooms, im in a trance…
Hot FLOODED, Im.hor FLOODED!😅
So many people, seem to have not learned anything from previous lessons? Make them PAY to be rescued.
Let us ooot
The river is happy.
They should have to pay for the rescue!! Idiots, ii live right beside it, doesn't take a genius to say hey Bob maybe let's not pitch a tent or put a kayak in the water. Taxpayers pay once again
Whelp. Tax payer money towards people’s stupidity.
Yo dawg, I heard you had record rainfall, so we thought it'd be a great time to go camping. We are surprised anything went wrong.
Wow, sensationalized media — why am I not surprised. Such garbage!
Hopefully people are safe!
