The tide of World War II shifted dramatically with the Allied invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944, known as D-Day. This unprecedented amphibious operation marked a turning point as Allied forces advanced through France.
Careful planning, strict secrecy, and the courage of countless soldiers ensured its success despite significant challenges and severe weather. Following this victory, Allied campaigns such as Operation Market Garden and the Battle of the Bulge tested their determination, ultimately leading to the fall of Berlin and the end of the conflict in Europe on May 8, 1945.
This historic day ushered in a new era of peace and reconstruction.

Wow that's awesome
After Monty chose to ignore the intelligence reports of German armor in the area during Market Garden, he should have been relieved of command permanently. He was, like Halsey, more dangerous to his own men than the enemy was.
Title in French but no voice in French?
Market garden didn't fail because of fuel and supply shortages. Nor was it well planned. It failed because they didn't have enough planes. To drop the entire force at one time. They were dropped more than five miles away from the target. Underestimating german strength. Dismissed intelligence reports, communication problems. And an ego trip to be the first allied general to get across the Rhine. Montgomery was a second rate general. And all his success is either at American expense. Or due to American supplies. If it wasn't for American armor, equipment, and supplies. Montgomery would've lost North Africa. He didn't acheive his objective in Sicily. He was supposed to take Cean on D-day. Takes credit for winning the Battle of the Bulge.
Great documentary. A lot of unseen footage.
To the brainwashed russians commenting with propoganda not facts, you are rewriting history to suit your narrative. Wake up, do some real research from real history books, then comment.
Pretty sure the Soviets crushed Hitler but ok.
After few minutes of watching, I stopped this re-written history movie. Like there was no Moscow battle (German losses during the Battle of Moscow totaled 250,000–400,000 dead or wounded, and the Red Army suffered 600,000–1,300,000 dead), Battle of Stalingrad (1.2 MILLION lost). Battle of Kursk, involving some 6,000 tanks, 2,000,000 troops, and 4,000 aircraft. It marked the decisive end of the German offensive capability on the Eastern Front and cleared the way for the great Soviet offensives of 1944–45. Operation Bagration – Operation Bagration were significant: an estimated 350,000 to 670,000 German soldiers were killed. Battle of Berlin (only Soviet Army) – German casualties At least 92,000 soldiers died, Over 200,000 soldiers were wounded, and Nearly half a million soldiers were captured. D-Day? What D-day?😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
Whoops
Hi thank you nice dokument wars.
Americans are just a bunch of afraid kitties, who waited till 1944 to open the western front and call it a turning point of the war. War was won after the Battle of Stalingrad and the Battle of Kursk in 1942 and 1943.
Committed.
Committed.
What? Suicide?
Phucin babies!
But now the fascist control the Ununited Sates that used to be a free country but the fascist used free speech and unlimited secre3t funding and now America is a fascist country with a treasonous, fascist mobster as president with his treasonous, fascist Republican Party!! I can hardly believe that America has fallen and become a fascist country in my life time!!!
Na 90% německých ztrát má zásluhu Rudá armáda. Bez gigantických bitev pod Moskvou, u Stalingradu,u Kursku by spojenecká invaze nebyla vůbec možná. Rudá armáda bojovala celou válku proti 200 německým divizím (3 miliony vojáků) a milionu německých spojenců ( Itálie,Maďarsko,Rumunsko,Slovensko,Finsko atd.)¨
The historical irony that France was exalted to be freed from the shackles of a merciless oppressor yet had no qualms oppressing the people's of Indo-China into brutal submission. The vulgar hypocrisy. The proud people of Vietnam against overwhelming odds won their freedom and the respect of the whole World.
Credo che i Tedeschi la guerra l'abbiano persa con l'Operazione Barbarossa. Non si fossero infognati in Russia avrebbero fatto fallire il D-Day.
Un loco sicópata que mató a 60 millones de personas
D day was a lot of luck…but the residue of meticulous design. And bravery of our grandparents
…..And America has forgotten already. The US House and Senate should hold all their sessions in tents, at Normandy, for the next four years….just to remind them. The growing trend of labeling history and facts as "woke" and "indoctrination" has finally paid off. Enjoy that new draft, kids…elections have consequences.
Oh great, another USA "We did that!" siren.
And likewise more idiots in the comments who, being brainwashed since birth, repeat "yeah but if we didn't do __ they wouldn't have ______"
Like what? I thought YOU did it?
Did YOU win?
There was a war with the Japanese going on in the Pacific. The USA 🇺🇸 had there hands full . Why waste more American 🇺🇸 lives when yet again we have to come to Europe to free them from the Germans. Also Stalin had signed a non aggression pack with Uncle Adolph until AH broke it. So Ole Joe was not to be trusted. And with all that the USA 🇺🇸 was providing the USSR with American arms for his Army's at the expense of the merchant marines battling the uboats to get the goods to him. With out which he probably wldnt had enough tanks guns etc to fight the Nazis with . The Americans Stormed the Beaches of Normandy when they were prepared. We also had been fighting up from Italy 🇮🇹 to boot.
Dresden was fair game. It was war. And lets not forget the gassing going on in concentration camps.
Exactly what military value did that have for the Nazis. You start the wind.
You reap the whirlwind
The British and Americans wanted to exhaust the Russians and Germans to the maximum extent, and when they realized that the Soviets had decided the matter and were on their way to sweeping all of Europe, they decided to land in Normandy.
World War II was in Russia, but outside Russia, it was small battles like children's games.

I want to quote a captured russian General who was asked by a german General who showed him the battlefield afterwards with thousands of dead russian soldiers witch were forced to run into there death with no tactic. The russian General answerd " We have enough human material .. so what."
