ENHYPEN Embraces Mexican Energy in Spanish to the Rhythm of ‘Despacito’ & ‘Cielito Lindo’

South Korean boyband ENHYPEN made its debut in Mexico this weekend and wanted to fully experience the local energy. The K-pop sextet captivated 22,000 fans at the Mexico City Arena each night over two consecutive dates (July 11-12), accompanying the audience as it erupted in song with the megahit “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee and the traditional “Cielito Lindo” on the first night. They also danced to the rhythm of “Payaso de Rodeo” — an old Tex-Mex track by Caballo Dorado that went viral during the 2026 FIFA World Cup — which played over the speakers.

Jungwon, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo and Ni-ki reaffirmed this way their bond with their Mexican Engene — what they call their fandom — despite the language barrier. Adding to the Latin songs performed, Jungwon recorded a cover of “Amor de Cine” by Mexican singer-songwriter Humbe, which was posted on ENHYPEN’s TikTok account on Sunday (July 12), just hours before their second of four shows in Mexico City — part of the Blood Saga tour.

The excitement and passion of Mexican fans during the national team’s participation in the World Cup also left an impression on the group. Member Ni-ki even wore the jersey of Mexico’s national soccer team on Saturday night. And his bandmate Jake admitted that, even though Mexico defeated South Korea on the June 18 match, he still loves the Latin American country, concluding with a heartfelt “¡Viva México!”

On Sunday, during their second show, the group shared with the audience how impressed they were by the lively festivals surrounding the World Cup in the country’s three host cities: Mexico City, Monterrey and Guadalajara. “With the World Cup, we saw that the entire country had a festival vibe,” Jake said in Korean, later praising the richness of Mexican cuisine. Their dialogues were translated to Spanish by an interpreter and enthusiastically celebrated by Engene.

Thousands of Mexican fans, mostly young women, accompanied the sextet with gifts, deafening chants and ovations during the two performances, which were marked by elaborate choreography. On Sunday, fans erupted with cheers during “GBOGH.”

The setlist for ENHYPEN’S debut in Mexico — the group’s first visit to Latin America — opened with “Knife,” followed by “Daydream,” “Outside” and “Brought The Heat Back,” which played during the first segment of the show characterized by its dark and vampiric atmosphere (a narrative that connects with ENHYPEN’s albums and aesthetic. Later, songs like “No Way Back,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “No Doubt,” “Sleep Tight,” “Bills” and “Moonstruck” were performed.

The Blood Saga tour, which visited Peru before arriving in Mexico, also features hits like “Drunk-Dazed” and “Bite Me,” illustrated with a haunted castle backdrop. During that segment of the show, the group unleashed a roar upon asking the audience on the left and right sides of the stage to shout, to see who could do it the loudest.

The finale arrived with “Shot Out,” which, according to the group members, hints at their future with their eighth mini-album THE SIN: BLISS, set to be released on Aug. 21. This work will continue the story of THE SIN: VANISH, where the protagonists broke taboos and embarked on their escape.

ENHYPEN will hold a third concert at Arena Ciudad de México on Tuesday (July 14), concluding the series of performances at this venue. The following day, the group will wrap up its time in the country with a more intimate show at Campo Marte, where HYBE’s Latin boy band Santos Bravos will open the event.
