The highly anticipated upcoming film, “Mufasa: The Lion King,” has everyone buzzing with excitement. Director Barry Jenkins, along with music composer Lin-Manuel Miranda, and cast members Kelvin Harrison Jr., Anika Noni Rose and Aaron Pierre, recently sat down with ET’s Nischelle Turner at Disney’s D23 Expo to discuss the film’s release on December 20th.
One of the most talked-about aspects of the film is the acting debut of none other than Blue Ivy Carter, daughter of the iconic Beyoncé, who voiced Nala in the 2019 version of “The Lion King.” Barry Jenkins couldn’t help but gush about Blue Ivy’s performance as Kiara, calling it “wonderful.” It seems that talent truly runs in the family.
Lin-Manuel Miranda, who wrote the music for the film, shared his experiences creating the musical score for Mufasa’s origin story. With his incredible talent and vision, audiences can expect a truly magical and emotional musical experience.
Anika Noni Rose and the rest of the cast also shared their thoughts on being a part of this special project, especially as they release the film 30 years after the original animated version. The nostalgia of bringing this beloved story back to the big screen is sure to resonate with audiences of all ages.

I figured the live action universe would have gone the route of using Simba's son from Disney+ to be more accurate to how lions actually are but no I guess we're going the lion King 2 route by having the heir to the throne be his daughter which makes no sense for lions
She looks so much like Jay Z. All of Beyonce's kids look mostly like him too.
kris jenner passed away
What a time to be alive
Who dis tall gorgeous man standing up.
Nepotism hire 😢 stealing the spotlight for talented actresses
Now that's what I call nepotism at it's finest.
Amazing
This is going to be a wonderful sequel film with Blue Ivy in it!!! ❤😊❤😊❤😊❤😊
its call nepotism and thats how blu ivy got the part js
Nepotism working at its best 🙄
Omg this is beautiful ❤I’m happy for her ❤
Are you talking about the Grammy they stole and give to her instead of giving it to the Weekend who really deserves it ,we all know why she’s playing the part smh
I wish Y’all can audition less fortunate Children to get them some money to help them out of poverty That would be nice . Not taking anything against blue however, she’s already rich.
Why is she going deep with the blu ivy questions this is about mufasa like yall make it awkward for the actors who really are the stars of the movie cmon man
Nepo baby getting roles she didn’t work for 😂 very sad
North Worst vs Ivy League, baby!!
I love how they use both actors who played Martin Luther King and Malcolm x I know it's going to be a good movie because it was great actors
This NEPO BABY wants to be a STAR so bad!
Respect to Beyonce and her legacy/body of work 100% and congrats to miss Blu too!. But please don’t make this film all about the Carters when you are quite literally in the presence of the rest of the cast who actually want to be there and have made the effort to be there for not just the glory of the film but the stress of press junkits etc. Actually properly acknowledge the cast in front of you never mind who isn’t there.
Make this all about BEYONCÉ I love it
I'm waiting to see this movie.
