Our first time in Croatia was nothing short of amazing! We started our adventure in Split, a beautiful city with a rich history and stunning views. We found a cozy place to stay for just €60 a day, right near the center of the old town. The stone buildings and colorful architecture added to the charm of the city.
Split was founded by the Greeks in the 3rd century BC and later developed into an important economic center. We explored the old town, visited the Cathedral, and climbed the bell tower for panoramic views of the city and the sea. The old walls and historic buildings gave us a glimpse into the city’s past.
We strolled through the markets, stopped at cafes, and sampled some local cuisine. The beaches in Split were a mix of pebble stones and sandy shores, providing a relaxing setting for a day by the water. We even found some quiet spots away from the beach clubs to enjoy the scenery.
We took a scenic walk along the coast to a historic fort and enjoyed breathtaking views of the Adriatic Sea. Cliff jumping and sunbathing on the rocks were popular activities for the locals. The Church of St Nicholas, commissioned in 1219, added a touch of history to our walk.
For a bird’s eye view of Split and the surrounding islands, we hiked to the Green Peak viewpoint in the Marjan national park. The rugged landscapes and crystal-clear waters were a sight to behold. We also caught a glimpse of the football stadium and the airport from the top.
Our first day in Croatia exceeded our expectations, and we are looking forward to exploring more of this beautiful country in the coming weeks.
