This was what midnight-morning 12am Lunar New Year was like in the 1980-90s. People wanted to ward off the devils so they burned as much firecrackers as possible, you couldn't breathe because the fumes from the firecrackers were so much and powerful as every 3-4 meters houses away people burned one or two firecrackers.
The firecrackers sometimes the length of your arm to the height of a grown person, the riches had firecrackers hanged from their second storey down. You couldn't stay in your houses to hide either it was that strong, loud and toxicated. After the burning the city and streets covered in red, pink, white square shape papers, just like autumn leaves in the western countries.
Firecrackers banned in 1995 and up till couple years ago people allowed to burn fireworks again, these fireworks give you the light shows but not much sounds and fumes. You've becoming local now, and showing new tourists around. Have a good weekend.

walking the tourist track
Bùi Viện Walking Street reminds me of Khaosan Road in Bangkok, and this area is like a condensed version of the Las Vegas Strip in terms of nightlife vibes with loud music and bright neon lights. Nice to see Jon's twin brother, Alan, and his wife. Thank you for sharing this lively night stroll, AK! 😎
