"Free – All Right Now (Doing Their Thing, 1970) Official Live Video": A Timeless Rock Anthem
In the world of rock, few songs encapsulate the spirit of an era quite like "All Right Now" by the British band Free. Formed in 1968 in London, the band emerged as a significant force in the British rock scene during the early 1970s. With a lineup featuring the charismatic lead vocalist Paul Rodgers, guitar virtuoso Paul Kossoff, bassist Andy Fraser, and drummer Simon Kirke, Free was known for their soulful sound and dynamic performances. Despite their relatively short lifespan—disbanding in 1973—their impact on rock music has proven enduring. The band reunited several times over the decades, but the original chemistry that characterized their early work remains unmatched.
“All Right Now,” released in 1970, is among Free’s most celebrated tracks, dispelling any doubts about the band’s capabilities as songwriting and performance artists. The single quickly became a massive hit, reaching number two on the UK Singles Chart and securing its place at number four on the US Billboard Hot 100. With its anthemic chorus and infectious rhythm, the song calls listeners to celebrate life and seize the moment, encapsulating the free-spirited ethos of the 1970s rock movement.
The official live video presented here, recorded during their performance in 1970, captures the energy and excitement that Free brought to the stage. The live rendition showcases the raw talent of each member, with Paul Rodgers’ commanding vocal performance and Kossoff’s signature guitar riffs creating a sonic experience that resonates with fans even today. The concert footage adds an authentic ambience, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in a pivotal moment in rock history.
Throughout their career, Free released several albums, including "Tons of Sobs," "Free," and "Highway," establishing a rich discography that intertwines rock, blues, and soul elements. Their work has influenced countless artists, with Rodgers later gaining further fame with the supergroup Bad Company, while Fraser pursued various musical projects until his untimely death in 2015. Despite the challenges and changes faced by the band members, the spirit of Free endures through their music.
As we delve into the "All Right Now" live performance, we celebrate not only a song that continues to inspire generations of rock enthusiasts but also the remarkable legacy of Free as a pioneering band in the rock genre. Join us in reliving this iconic performance and embracing the message of positivity and freedom that resonates through one of rock’s most beloved anthems.

I must say, that is the worst camera work I have ever seen. Killer song though.
It's not unfortunate they were having a blast
I think the lead singer is a great representation of that era. Great song!!
Hard to believe these were in their early 20s at this point! Genius!
we're good together just kids outside homeless ball Nelly _______&/ Jeff
They came to Cowboys in Dothan AL November 89 me and my girlfriend spent all night dancing and bullshiting with the band.
Oh! the drumming in this one… and anything Paul Rogers sings. Huh… did I mention the kick ass guitar solos and bass playing?
When the lead singer of free left and went to Bad Company, I was so excited. And then they recorded this song again where's bad company. But it's unfortunate to begin with because this band was very talented..
It occurred to me watching this that Paul Kossoff must’ve had a big influence on Andy Taylor (Duran Duran/Power Station). He would have been 9 years old when this was filmed. He was always a very raucous guitarist live, unlike on Duran’s studio albums. His solo stuff was straight ahead rock, and I can hear Kossoff’s influence. I was recently watching the Duran concert from London in 2005 or 06, and during the member introductions, when each player plays a bit of flashy music after being announced, Andy started playing the main riff to All Right Now. I even noticed while watching Kossoff that Andy seems to have been influenced even by Paul’s stage presence. Fascinating stuff to discover decades after hearing Andy Taylor for the first time.
WOW what a great song
Pioneers of rock in their time
Paul Rodgers what a great vocalist
Freedom!
How can anyone not have their brains scrambled sitting that close to a cranked full stack marshall major? Excellent tone, but that has to be over 120 decibels!😮
