In this talk, Hisham shares how a simple childhood introduction to video games evolved into a lifelong passion that shaped their identity, friendships, and memories. What began with a Minecraft ® on a PlayStation ® eventually grew into thousands of hours of gaming, meaningful social connections, and personal growth through games like War Thunder ®. The speaker reflects on how seemingly small moments can create lasting passions while also challenging common stereotypes around gaming. Hisham Jamali is an 8th grade student and TEDx speaker at iCademy Middle East. He has been very interested in public speaking and has given a speech at the first iCademy Talks event. On May 16th 2026, he will be exploring how an ephemeral introduction to video games led to a permanent hobby of gaming, creating memories and friends.
