Harris in the Spotlight as Heir to Biden’s Campaign: Global National July 22, 2024

After President Joe Biden dropped out of the race and endorsed her, U.S. Vice-President Kamala Harris has quickly become the front-runner for the Democrats’ nominee in the 2024 presidential election. The growing number of Democrats endorsing Harris has solidified her position, leaving many wondering if any other Democrats have a viable chance of challenging her. This unexpected turn of events has also thrown a curveball into Donald Trump’s campaign, shaking up the political landscape.

At a congressional hearing, U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle faced tough questions about security failures leading up to the July 13th assassination attempt on Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania. Cheatle’s admissions left lawmakers frustrated as they sought answers about the lapses that allowed such a dangerous situation to occur.

In Alberta, two men have been charged with threatening to kill federal politicians, including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. The rise in violent threats and harassment against public officials is alarming, as the country grapples with the consequences of such behavior.
