Pylos was greatly mentioned by Homer in his works "Iliad" and "Odyssey".In the area there are some
ruins of a Mycenaean palace, known as Nestor's palace who was the legendary king of Pylos area during
the Trojan war. Many terracotta plates were found there on which there were written inscriptions in
linear B scripture, the oldest way of writing the Greek language. It's a syllabic script.
WOW!!! I totally understand why you keep going back for more… I would never want to leave!!! 💙😎💙😎💙
I will come and see Greece thanks to you!!
Nice video.Which is your favorite Island in Greece ? And which island has the clearest water ?
Gabe love your videos , it puts me in a lovely place , going in june to peloponnese can't bloody wait
You seem to be an expert in Greece so let me ask you something:
Been to Greece in 2019 stayed almost two months and visited a bunch of places some of which I liked more than others. Some of those were:
Athens 7/10 great history nice vibe in some places but waaay too much graffiti
Thessaloniki 8/10 reminded me of Honolulu a bit. Less graffiti than Athens but still quite a lot
Santorini 9.5/10 a once in a lifetime experience only brought down but the crowds of tourists
Corfu 9.5/10 great place but looks a bit too much like Italy so less unique than some of the other places
Rhodes 10/10 it has the best preserved medieval town that I know of and I only saw a small part of it cause it's a huge island
Crete/Rethymno 10/10 I can't find a fault everything was great the city the beaches the food etc
Kalabaka/Meteora 11/10 seriously that place was otherwordly, straight out of a story book
Have you been to those places and would you agree with my assessments? Is it worth to see anything else if I ever returned and what would be some examples?
Nice one. You are in my region. Lots of hidden treasures. Waterfalls and hikes. Ithomi and Vulcano, Koroni and Mathoni, Mani, Taygetos, Polylimnio, Neda, and many castles, monasteries, churches and chapels as well brilliant ancient temples and ruins all over. Enjoy and try lalagia, local tyropita from a “fournos” and pork made the local way …. Kala taxidia
Hi Gabriel, actually Voidokoilia it means bull belly 😅,keep up the great work
Hell I just keep going back for the food.
Don't forget to visit the villages in Mani with the tower houses, the cave of Diros, the Byzantine ruins in Mistras, Monemvasia is a gem as well! Trust me you won't regret it!
Since you are so close, you must see the Ancient Messene (near Kalamata), the Diros cave, and the Mani Peninsula, down to Bathia and Cape Tenaro. Then, Gytheio town, Agia Paraskevi cave (ask locals), and Monembasia Castle. And, of course, Mystras, Mycenae, Epidaure, Agros castle, Nafplio with 3 super castles, and Acrocorinth. To me, the Peloponnese is the most fascinating region of Greece.
My father and I have been watching your videos every day for the past three years, and we just wanted to say thank you for the inspiration and positivity you share through your travels. You truly come across as a kind and genuine person with a good heart, and it’s always a pleasure to follow your adventures.
We especially want to thank you for how much you appreciate Greece – it means a lot to us.
If you ever come to Northern Greece, especially Thessaloniki or Halkidiki, we would be happy to host you and show you the beauty of our region.
Warm greetings from Thessaloniki/Macedonia/Greece!
I do hope you have visited Stoupa further along the coast from Kalamata; my fav little holiday destination
Ever glad you are in your happiest place, Gabriel.
When do you think you will rendezvous with Cristo and Nicole?
Please do not worry about being late to upload videos.
We can wait.
Gabe, are they still under volcano eruption warnings?
I know you're traveling on western side where it should be safer.
Gabe, I hope you are still in the area, please don't miss going to Polylimnio! A fantastic jungle-like place where you can hike for a short while and swim under a waterfall. A hidden paradise of Peloponnese
At the very end of this video, what were your delicious looking burgers stuffed with?
dear Gabriel don't forget to go to Laconia, to the castle of Mystras, to the petrified forest of Kavo Malia, Monemvasia, to elafoniso island and Kythira. Welcome 🇬🇷💙🌺🌺
🙂❤👍Thank You Gabriel 👍
22:21 wow you've seen much more of Greece than the vast majority of Greeks by now!
Quick refresher on pronunciation of Greek vowels. η – υ – οι – ι are all pronounced as EE. The I (EYE) sound is quite rare and usually only used for foreign words. Same with the AY sound. The other vowel sounds are pretty straightforward – α is pronounced AH – ε is pronounced EH – ου is pronounced OO. So Pyrgos is PEER-gos, Pylos is PEE-los and so on. Finally, a note about where to place the accent. In many cases, on three syllable words the accent shifts back to the first syllable – thus, AM-orgos, PREV-eza etc. but there are exceptions such as Lef-KA-da and A-THEN-a.
Is there any way to do some investigating and find the Swedish girl? Perhaps she is single once again.
What an amazing life you lead gabriel well done 😊
Beautiful
Check out Nestor palace waterfalls ancient messini. This is on the way to kalamata. After head to stoupa kalogria beach.
Hey Gabe… how many subscribers do you really have? Just curious, because for the longest time now, you show 611K on my YouTube feed. You must have millions, given your incredible journeys!
Hope it's not too late to inform you that it's a must for you to see the Diros caves close to Areopolis of Laconia as well as the town of Vatheia in the peninsula of Mani.
Fact ! I haven't had the chance to see all these places you have been so far in my own country ! I can say you're privileged in this point.
Also I have to point out that the Latin (mainly Venetian and other Italian) occupation lasted about 50 years and had been mainly in certain strategic areas and islands where the Latins had settled and costructed fortresses like the one you visited. Most of today's Greece had been part of the Byzantine Empire back in the day.Wish you enjoy each and every day !
I love your Greece videos. I'm getting too old to travel, but I am glad that I got to visit Greece when I could.
These are the type of ruins that are most fun to explore! And the views!!!
Love your videos. Greece is like that once you “get it” you keep coming back. And back. By the way the beach is pronounced Vodokeeleeah. As OI is pronounced “ee”.
I'm backing off my earlier comment. I will go back to Greece after watching your videos. Thanks dude!
Pilos – worst mosquito infestation ever, back in 1990. Couldn’t enjoy anything in the evenings or early mornings
Beautiful Pylos!! Nestor’s Palace would be an amazing archeological site to visit as well!
Please don't make recommendations about the entire western Peloponnese just cause you didn't like Pyrgos and drove one highway, it is an incredibly vast area with many beautiful towns, beaches, nature reserves, and some of the most impressive castles in all of Greece (Kyllini castle).
Gabriel you must take the spectacular odontotos cogwheel train from Diakopto to Kalavryta. Stunning views on the ride and lots of history too.
❤
23:24 really enjoy these vlogs and the special touches of memories in photographs! What a spectacular beach! Found some info online about it too! Thank you
Mountains of Peloponnese are full of beautiful villages, some are famous winter destinations in Greece for ski and food. Mistras is Beautiful if you haven't been there, you can see the church Constantine Palaiologos crowned and houses with details of house described by Homer.
Most southern Peloponnese and especially Mani peninsula was never occupied by Ottomans.
Guys, this is ridiculous. Abbie asked a perfectly reasonable question, no need to turn it into an argument. I'm not sure what the burgers were stuffed with, but fortunately a Greek answered the question. I've deleted a couple of comments and there are several more that I would delete, however I'm going to leave them up so that some of the commenters get the notification of my comment and see my reply. I'll request that some of the regular commenters calm down with responding to almost everything Abbie writes, and if it continues then I'll be blocking some people in the future. <—- 😅😅ADOLPH TRUMP JR
