Hands On with Spacetop the AR Laptop
Spacetop is an experimental laptop-like product that uses AR glasses instead of a screen, creating a completely new way of interacting with technology. Priced at $1900, it is definitely in the early adopter territory. The AR glasses that come included with Spacetop are XR ar2 ultras, the top-of-the-line AR glasses from X Reel with some position tracking. These glasses are bonded directly to the Spacetop, creating a virtual 100-inch screen that floats around you.
The Spacetop also features head tracking, allowing you to look around and track objects without the display moving with you. The base of the Spacetop can also track in space, allowing the display to move with you as you move around. This unique feature makes it ideal for working on the go or in changing environments.
While the current AR glasses have a narrow field of view, making it feel like looking through a small window, the potential for future devices is promising. Spacetop and similar products like X Reel’s Beam Pro are leading the way in developing technology that will transform how we interact with computers in the future. Who knows, maybe one day we will all be using AR glasses and smart keyboards as our main computing devices.
