South Korea experienced a tragic air accident on Sunday morning when a Jeju Air flight veered off the runway and crashed into a wall at Muan International Airport. The Boeing 737-800 flight, coming from Bangkok, had issued a mayday signal after a bird strike and attempted to land without lowering the landing gear.
The crash resulted in the death of all 175 passengers, both pilots, and two crew members, as the plane burst into flames upon impact. Only two members of the cabin crew were able to be rescued alive from the wreckage.
This is the first fatal air accident in South Korea in over two decades, highlighting the severity of the incident. Investigators are currently searching the site of the crash to determine the cause of the tragedy.
