Local Police Testify they Identified Suspicious Person as Crooks to Secret Service During Trump Shooting

The House Homeland Security Committee heard testimony on Tuesday regarding the assassination attempt on former president Donald Trump, with Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner Col. Christopher Paris and Fraternal Order of Police National President Patrick Yoes as witnesses.

Col. Paris testified that the shooter, Thomas Crooks, was identified as a suspicious person and information was promptly relayed to the Secret Service. He mentioned that a picture taken by the Butler Emergency Services Unit was sent to the Secret Service, indicating some level of communication between the two entities.

During questioning about an incident where Crooks pointed a rifle at an officer, Col. Paris clarified that only seconds elapsed between the officer spotting him on the roof and Crooks opening fire on Trump. This contradicted earlier statements suggesting a longer timeframe.

Meanwhile, news emerged during the hearing that Cheatle had resigned from her position.

The testimony shed light on the quick actions taken by law enforcement in response to the assassination attempt on Trump in Pennsylvania. It highlighted the importance of coordination between agencies in preventing such incidents and ensured a swift response to protect public figures.
