Lotus L. Kang on “Already” at 52 Walker | ARTnews On View, 2025

For this installment of “On View,” ARTnews multimedia editor Christopher Garcia Valle joins artist Lotus L. Kang for a walkthrough of her exhibition “Already” at 52 Walker, on view April 11 through June 7, 2025. Kang’s show transforms light-sensitive materials into poetic reflections on memory, time, and the vulnerability of existence. The works draw on Korean poet Kim Hyesoon’s poem “Already” from Autobiography of Death (2018), as well as Buddhist notions of the 49 days between death and rebirth, exploring impermanence, inheritance, and the liminal space between life and death.
