In a powerful video interview with France 24, Afghan taekwondo champion Marzieh Hamidi called for the world to recognize gender apartheid as a crime against humanity.
Hamidi, who sought refuge in France in 2021, shared her experiences of living as a woman in Afghanistan under the oppressive rule of the Taliban. She highlighted the discrimination, violence, and restrictions imposed on Afghan women and girls, urging the international community to take action against such egregious violations of human rights.
“We want the world to recognize gender apartheid as a crime against humanity,” Hamidi stated in the video, emphasizing the urgent need for global recognition and condemnation of the systematic oppression faced by women in Afghanistan and other parts of the world.
The taekwondo champion’s passionate plea sheds light on the harsh realities faced by countless women and girls who are deprived of basic freedoms and rights due to their gender. Her courage and resilience in speaking out against gender apartheid serve as a reminder of the ongoing struggle for gender equality and justice.
As the international community grapples with the implications of the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan, Hamidi’s words serve as a powerful call to action for governments, organizations, and individuals to prioritize the protection and empowerment of women and girls in conflict-affected and oppressive societies.
Marzieh Hamidi’s advocacy for the recognition of gender apartheid as a crime against humanity resonates as a poignant reminder of the pressing need to address systemic gender-based discrimination and violence on a global scale.

Forever wearing my burka
Lie might be fair for the popularity and personal fame, but not at the cost of your motherlands bad reputation over media outlets.
Women's right to education and work is very important, but the problem of Afghanistan is not only women's right to work and education, which will solve all other problems as well, but the main and major structural problem of Afghanistan has been ethnic monopolies and all other problems such as wars, insecurity and occupations. And the arrival of foreign forces and internal wars are all the result and consequence of this structural problem of ethnic and tribal-oriented governments, until this problem is truly and once and for all and irreversible solved, and all the ethnic groups of Afghanistan are fairly and according to their actual population in the structure of the government and If the decisions of the country are not shared, the problem of Afghanistan will never be solved, and any solutions that do not solve the problem in a real and fair way will only be deception and deceit, continuing the same deceptions and deceptions of the past two hundred and eighty years, and will never end the pain of the Afghan people.

She is right. A religion which blatantly act against females- world should expose it…..

these sell out hypocrite irrevelant activists will talk abt afghanistan but wont utter a word about gza
Afghan women's followe Islamic teachings and they are wearing hijab not because of Taliban rather because of the god commandment in the Quran,
Women's subjugation is always glossed over by the media regardless what country its is in. Its not just in Afghanistan look at America where many states are not medically treating women for miscarriages and medically needed abortions as the doctors are too scared. Then they are all up in arms as to why women no longer want children!!!
Oh okay….how are things going in France? I heard its in a recession?
Afghanistan is no longer the worlds problem. As long as they don't spread past their borders then it doesn't matter. Afghanistan had a chance for a future but it's people decided against it.
